The ignore button has made my time on this forum much, much better. In some cases it's mandatory.

Kenobi cost something like $90 million, it's Disney's forever...Netflix paid far more than that just to keep Friends for one year. And now Poof! Gone. Last edited by Ernest Rister; 08-11-2022 at 10:19 PM. |

From Sept. 8-19, AMC will screen Disney films like Encanto, Rogue One, Cars and Thor: Ragnarok, with $5 tickets. Buyers of those tickets will get a Disney+ poster, and a concession discount. Disney also extended its offer with Uber, giving Disney+ subscribers 6 free months of Uber One.

Bob Iger: Disney Will Reduce Costs On Films, TV Shows to Focus On Quality, Not Volume
"It comes in the form of reducing the expense per content, whether it's a TV series or a film, where costs have just skyrocketed," the Disney chief told an investor conference. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/bu...0f0740c6f56c40 |

When Bob Iger steps down again, I hope the next CEO of Disney does a better job.

Thank God. Did Walt's ghost visit Iger? I know most film studios are run by people who are businessmen first who never got their hands dirty working on a shoot, but Walt had made over 100 short productions before ever beginning the Mickey years. He was over the moon watching Steamboat Willie come together (and had probably had a few drinks) when he shouted, "This is it! We're gonna kill them with quality!" Meaning making the brand stand for something, something novel and unique and the best in animated entertainment. That ethic worked, big time. Walt and Roy took the profits from the Mickey shorts and put them right back into R&D, experimentation, codifying discoveries so they could be shared and learned from and progress further, eventually paying the highest salaries in animation to lure top talent and train new talent. The public responded, the films got better, the techniques more advanced...Walt went from Steamboat Willie to Snow White in something like 108 months.
Quality. How the studio's various leaderships post-Walt ever forgot that lesson is, frankly, bizarre. Watching Disney+ last year was like eating a tainted burrito, and it's going to take time to vacate the resulting Chapek diarrhea out of the studio bowels. |
