I think it stands to reason that Alyla Browne will be playing Maria. She’s a young blonde-haired girl with blue eyes in a movie featuring Shadow, after all.

It's gonna be Arthur's baby with Aquaman fans all over again.

With the news of Jim Carrey returning make me wonder if he will be in most of the movie, just near the end, or as a after/during the credits scene.

But I'm too cynical to accept just that. A lot of fans, including me, want it to be played in the movie, and they know it.

But like, you can't be blind to the fact that Sonic, in the games, is also notable for the incredible music made for the games. The fact the movies haven't embraced it at all is aggravating. Bring in all the Crush 40 songs and not guys like Kid Cudi like 2.
The title logo even resembles the Sonic Adventure 2 logo.

Hopefully the poster will resemble SA2 like the Sonic movie 2 logo’s resembled the Sonic 2 game’s box art:

Its been said he didnt like the sound capability of the Genesis and changed his mind but also Sega backed out because of the legal trouble at the time.

They still used it but he wasnt associated anymore. Its why re-releases have some music replaced.

I'm a big fan of Sonic 1 and 2, but Sonic 3 on Genesis introduced this Save Menu before you even start the level, which was an odd way to start Sonic's adventure compared to the fun, fast style of the first two. Part 3 has some cool levels in it though, and I was able to complete it once back then as a kid.

There is a lot of Sonic material out there in video games and TV shows, which I haven't seen all of yet, so it's helped me realize that Sonic is no longer just about the world of the 2D Genesis games, but expanded far beyond his realm and interacts with people in the games and shows too. That gives these movies more credibility for why he's interacting with people, and isn't so far off the mark as I originally felt.

Would it be ideal if Sonic was in CGI animated form like the Super Mario Bros. movie? I think so, but this does make more sense now from a live-action point of view, considering Sonic X and other Sonic shows where he's dealing with humans.

With Eggman Robotnik out of the picture entirely now for part 3, is Shadow the Hedgehog going to be the new main villain? No more human villain? I guess so. The trailer will reveal more soon.

Thats because it was originally supposed to have a walloping 14 stages before it had to be cut down and split into two games for time/RAM purposes, thats why they both have the same art style, special stages and boss music. S3&K is the full game as it was originally intended and the Sonic Origins Collection has both halves as one as originally intended.

Where to begin? Sonic has been rife with interpretations from early on (on that note, I even liked live-action Mario). So I didn't really notice things like how the games, comics, or Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog were totally different.

Different main characters has been done before. Including outright removing Sonic. Dr. Robotink's Mean Bean Machine is such an outlandish take on the series, it doesn't feature or mention Sonic whatsoever! No joke.

I do, too. I know its not faithful whatsoever to the games, but its funny and bold for its time. The cast was great, and the effects were decent for early '90s fare. The only actors I was familiar with at the time were Samantha Mathis from "Ferngully", and Bob Hoskins from "Roger Rabbit". I had no idea who John Leguizamo was, and the film was made before Dennis Hopper saw a resurgence in his career with "Speed". I recall an interview he gave once, when his son asked him why he made the movie. He said, "I did it so you could have shoes." His son said, "Dad, I didn't need shoes that badly."

I haven't seen MeanBean Machine series yet, thanks. The amount of Sonic shows can get slightly confusing, as they are each reboots with their own sets of stories and characters and voice actors.

Sonic Underground
Adventures of Sonic the HedgeHog
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic X
Mean Bean Machine (?)
Sonic Prime
etc.
Then there are the Sonic Adventure games, Sonic 2D games, etc.

As a kid, I saw it in theaters and while amused, felt it was severely off the mark for a Mario Bros. game. Watching it in 2022 after all those years, it's easier to separate from expectations and enjoyed it as a kind of sci-fi futuristic weird mechanical world movie, sort of like Mad Max or something in that fantasy realm genre. Not at all accurate to the classic NES game, but still entertaining when viewed as its own movie separate from the property.

Expectations can definitely get in the way of enjoying movies, and life too, as well as Star Wars. And in this case, Sonic the movies. I went in expecting more of one thing, but the movie has its own goals.

Speaking for myself, Star Wars has become much more of a cultural phenomenon than either Sonic or the Mario games. They're both popular, entertaining both kids and adults for generations...but what George Lucas put together was on an entirely different level for a lot of people. That's why so many (including me) passionately defend his work, and condemn the PC sequels with just as much fervor.

In Sonic 2, they have this scene where Sonic isn't even onscreen, and it's just about a secondary character getting married and then suddenly becoming a super agent, blasting bad guys and so on. The whole time I'm thinking, "What does this have to do with Sonic the Hedgehog again?" So I can understand your concerns about a property going in a different direction than hoped. In the end, none of these things are in my control to change, so I won't get upset about them, though we do have the freedom to not watch them as well.

For Sonic 3 however, I'll try to be more open minded and not expect Sonic 1 and 2 games in movie form. I did enjoy Sonic 1 the movie, so I hope this will be more like that one rather than part 2, which went off track a couple times IMO.

No, I view it like I view Godzilla 98: even when looked at on its own merits, its still a terrible movie. The co-stars literally drank themselves through shooting to get through the day because it was so bad and Nintendo kept all their licenses under (film adaptation) lock and key for 30 years because of how poorly-received it was.

That may be true, but if I don't think of it as a Nintendo movie, it's entertaining and watchable. Bob Hoskins, Dennis Hopper both give entertaining roles.

Carrey as Eggman Robotnik is one of his best character performances IMO.
