SPIDER-WOMAN Movie from Sony (Olivia Wilde to Direct)

Hmmm.... you know if Feige could get his hands on it, we could work towards Secret Invasion... I won't dismiss this outright.

Ill admit, i know nothing about the character, but, cmon, anyone thats in my shoes believes that they do. So...is she a woman spiderman? Is that basically it?

Not quite. Spider-Woman's power set is bit different. She doesn't have webs or spider sense, but she has a bio-electric zap. She used to be able to glide with her costume too. Climbs walls and is super strong, agile, fast like Peter, but not to the same extent as him.

Jessica Drew also has quite a different background from Peter, she is a former agent and is highly trained. She was not initially portrayed as an "every man" character with relatable life difficulties.

The truth is Spider-Woman was created by Marvel for trademark reasons. They just didn't want another comic book company using the name first.

Aside from her name, Spider-Woman's most iconic thing is her tight red and yellow outfit. That is pretty much it.

A few years ago there was a big reckoning that her traditional portrayal was too sexy.

Marvel foolishly hired the Italian erotic comic illustrator Milo Manara to draw an alternate cover for her reboot series.

Of course he drew her with her ass in the air like a porn star.

There was much social media commentary and controversy and hand-wringing about it because that is the world of comics now.

I have been reading more about her since this thread. Jessica Drew is kind of a nobody, but Spider Woman is more part of the Iron Man universe than the Spider Man universe. Which would fit right in with the current trend of Stark Industries being related to everything.

The other Spider-Woman was named Julia Carpenter and she had a romantic relationship with Tony Stark.

In before people hate it because it's a female character. I've always liked the original spider woman.

It's probably going to suck because Hollywood has its head up its ass with wokeness at present, and with the exception of Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, all modern female leads are written to be insufferable characters who have to take constant digs at men to assert themselves.

I will hold out some hope though. There's no way that it could be as bad as the current slate of Spider-Woman comics.

What super powers did Gwen Stacy and MJ have to be Spider-Woman?

Was Drew brainwashed into becoming a Hydra double agent at one point?

Spider-Gwen and Mary Jane Watson as Spider-Woman have the same power set as Peter Parker. Maybe not quite as strong, but they are both basically Spider-Man in female form.

Sounds copied and rewritten.

Weve seen this.

Nothing new.

Like I said, Spider-Woman was initially created for trademark purposes. Marvel did not have a concept or story for her. They just didn't want DC using the Spider-Woman title.

You know what? I've yet to watch Spiderverse. People keep nagging me to do so. I don't think I was aware it was Sony. And dang I just watched the trailer. That's looking pretty good.

WTF???? You missed out on the arguably best animated and superhero movie of all times. Watch it now!

Excited for black cat idea but.....it has to be done carefully. She is an easy character to fuck up for live action. Her portrayal in PS4 was great.
