Rate this book
In this charming rom-com, two enemies find something they never expected in one another—taking "all's fair in love and war" to a hilarious and heartwarming new level.

Actress Bree Leake doesn't want to be tied down, but just when it's time to move on again, Bree's parents make her an offer; hold steady in Abingdon for one full year, and they will give her the one thing she's always wanted—her grandmother's house. Her dreams are coming true... until life throws her some curve balls.

And then there's her new neighbor. Chip McBride.

For the first time in her life, she's met the person who could match her free-spirited air—and it's driving her to the ledge of sanity. She would move heaven and earth to have him out of her life, but according to the bargain she's struck, she cannot move out of her house and away from the man who's making her life miserable. So begins Bree's obsessive new mission: to drive Chip out of the neighborhood—and fast.

Bree isn't the only one who's a wee bit competitive, and as Chip registers what Bree's up to, he's more than willing to fight fire with fire. But as their pranks escalate, the line between love and hate starts to blur.

This is definitely lighthearted and entertaining romcom! But I still feel like some romance parts are missing and till I reach the last third of the book, I actually decided to stop reading it but thankfully conclusion of the story was more satisfying even though epilogue was a little bit confusing.

Let me tell you more about the story and the characters so you may understand the reasoning of my complex feelings about the book.

I liked the beginning of the story. Bree is an ambitious stage actress who gets ultimatum from her parents to have a steady job at least for one year and she gets a small part at the “Midsummer Night’s Dream” but during the live production, she dodges outdoors and her dress falls apart. Luckily Chip who is there to take videos , helping her to solve her problem, saving the day. She gets attracted to him but she finds out he is already taken by a gorgeous girl! Sorry Bree, it seems like you’re having a hard day!

As she drives back to her house, she realizes she’s followed by the most irritating truck gets in her nerves. They both drive to her cul-de sac. And guess what? Truck driver was also Chip.

She gets pissed off and of course Chip’s dog Russell’s attack her as if she is T-bone steak, increases the tension. Bree declares war and two adults start to act like second grades pulling so many pranks on each other.

After so many pranks later, they finally understand they actually fall in love in!

I don’t know about that part because so many pranks later I think frenemies theme a little lost its magic! Chip seems like he always has a crush on Bree but I had hard time to see the reason why Bree declared war and started hating the guts so intensely of the guy after getting attracted at the first sight!

Their worries about their jobs and family problems also took more place than their so slowly blooming romance.

But I actually liked the last third. I couldn’t connect with Bree so much, I found her dramatic, annoying. Chip was more likable hero but I wish the author named him different.

Overall: I’m giving 3.25 stars! It’s still above the average. There are some real great and entertaining dialogues and I enjoyed beginning and frenemies theme but I wish the storyline may have been executed better.

I liked the previous work of the author more but I still enjoy her writing style and like to read more of her future novels.

So many thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts.

Unfortunately, this book just didn't work for me. I listened to part of this as an audio book and read part as a print copy. The narrator of the audio book was good and she definitely kept me engaged in the lightheartedness of the story.

To start with, the book just didn't match the synopsis. I thought from the narrative that Bree had inherited half of the house? The synopsis seems to indicate that there was a bargain worked out with her parents, but I didn't get that at all. Maybe Bree was flighty when it comes to jobs, but I also didn't get that from the plot. She was acting from the first page, so I never saw evidence of previous jobs. Also, in what universe would a bit part at an out of the way theater support a person? I want to live there! And I thought Shakespeare was public domain for theaters, so I didn't buy that suddenly this theater company doesn't have the rights to perform Much Ado About Nothing after the cast had been hired (and why didn't they have contracts and how were they getting paid if they didn't?)--my logical brain just couldn't make sense of all of these seemingly large holes.

The love story just didn't ring true. Admittedly, once the relationship between Bree and Chip developed, it was cute and their banter was endearing. However, it took most of the book for that to gel and for me it was too little, too late. I was so angered by the dog basically attacking her and holding her hostage and his attitude of both thinking it was funny and not a big deal that I almost quit reading right then (and it was nearly at the beginning of the book). The pranks got really old and I found myself rolling my eyes far more often than chuckling at their adolescent behavior.

Overall, if you light light romantic comedy, you might enjoy this one. It just wasn't the right book for me.

I voluntarily reviewed complimentary copies of both the print and audio versions of this book. All opinions are my own.

A fun feel-good story! Bree is a free spirit currently acting as a fairy at the local theater. Chip is a little more buttoned up trying to branch away from the family business. Bree and Chip’s pass first cross when Bree is having a costume mishap during her performance and Chip comes to her rescue. Their paths cross again later that night when Bree is followed home by an obnoxious driver in a big truck just to find out it is Chip and he is now her new neighbor. A broken waterline and an overly zealous dog leads to a succession of somewhat neighborly pranks. An easy breezy read packed with folly, whimsy, animals, Family, laughs, and heart.

This was an engaging squeaky clean slow burn romance. Both Bree and Chip were likable characters and I found myself laughing several times throughout the story. Kate Rudd does an amazing job narrating this audiobook. She is such a tremendous voice actress and gave each of these characters such a colorful recognizable voice. This is the perfect book to pop in your ear and escape into for the afternoon.

This has a cute plot idea, but I wasn't able to get into it. Chip has a girlfriend but is noticing Bree*. Bree is noticing too many of Chip's muscles. Yeah, I'll pass. No interest in seeing how this book ends.

*(I'd like to comment on the dialogue he had about this: "He had a girlfriend. A terrific, wonderful girlfriend. Yes, this woman [Bree] had stinking green eyes, but he could've noticed that about anymore. It was a perfectly harmless, meaningless observation. Just like he'd notice how nice that green dress looked on her, so very appropriately her color. Good for her. It was hard to find such color-complementary clothing these days."
Ahem. Does this come across as an excuse to anyone else? I'm not wasting my time on this nonsense.)

The Cul-de-Sac War is a light hearted, humorous and highly entertaining romantic comedy. I adored Bree and Chips characters. The back and forth between the two of them with their pranks was priceless - and the final prank had me laughing out loud. Oh the shenanigans, haha! Plus Russell, Chips dog was too much. I enjoyed his mischief!

I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy a light, clean rom-com :)

I really, really enjoyed listening to this cute contemporary romcom. I had earlier requested for an e-Arc of this book which didn't get approved so when I saw that the audio was up for request as well I took my chance and was so glad to get it. I feel listening to the book was a better option for me because I don't think I would have enjoyed reading the book as much as I have enjoyed listening to it. Voice actress Kate Rudd has done a very fine job narrating this entire book, all characters included.

My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher Thomas Nelson and the author Melissa Ferguson for the audio ARC of the book. The audio book will be released on 10th November 2020.

***AUDIO BOOK VERSION***
The Cul-de-sac war is a fun, lighthearted, quirky read with a light storyline of neighbours/frenemies to lovers with a slow-burn romance in between.
This book was just what I needed to cheer me up and had me giggling afew times through the story.

Bree and Chip meet at the beginning of the book. Bree has a wardrobe malfunction whilst on stage at the theatre she performs at and Chip saves the day.
They meet again later that same day when Bree finds out her new neighbour is no other than Chip! The story unfolds from here with a series of neighbourly pranks between Bree and Chip.
I really enjoyed Chips character but wasn't as keen on Bree at times I bordered on dislike for her but I did enjoy the book despite this.
The narrators voice was relaxing and I enjoyed how she changed her voice smoothly for Bree and Chips characters through the book.

Looking for a squeaky-clean romcom with a "friendly" neighborly rivalry? This new release will fit the bill. I found the feud between Bree and Chip to be an amusing plot device that propelled the plot along while our main characters dealt with their family baggage. Both are from supportive families and I especially enjoyed Bree's parent visits and their love affair with Russell, Chip's dog. BTW, that Russell needs his own book! Anyway, this is an uplifting story with a testament to the power of prayer and a reminder to love your neighbor.

Thank you to Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for a audio ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Well, this wasn't for me. The premise sounded fun and lighthearted - a neighborly war that would most likely end in romance, I'm there for it! But the story was mostly just Chip and Bree doing their jobs, worrying about their jobs, coming home from 12 hours on the job and then doing something ridiculous to each other. I didn't buy the animosity between them and I definitely didn't buy the love either.

I didn't particularly care about any of the characters. Both Chip and Bree were annoying and rude and they didn't treat their significant others very well, which did not endear them to me. Also, I love dogs, but it's really rude letting your dog - nay, encouraging your dog almost - to trample your neighbor so that she becomes afraid of leaving or entering her own residence. And that happened several times the first, what, week of their acquaintance? Can you really blame Bree for thinking you're a disrespectful jerk then?

I also felt it dragged a lot. Maybe it was just my disinterest in it, but according to my kindle, it could be read in about 4 hours. It took me 10 days instead. Okay, that might just be my disinterest. I did end up finishing it in the end, though, so I'm also a little miffed that the ending was so ... underwhelming? So yeah, this wasn't for me.

I received an e-ARC from the publisher through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Ahh!!!! I loved every single second of this. Every second of Bree and Chip's banter and prank war was perfect. I heard so many reviews on The Cul-de-Sac War but I'm so glad that I continued through this book which I listened through on Scribd as an audiobook. I think that listening to The Cul-de-Sac War as an audiobook made it more special, the expressions just felt more special when listening to the book.

I loved the slowburn aspect and the fact that even though they did all these pranks toward each other, you can really see the support that they had for each other and the friendship that slowly started to bloom. And even though they hated each other, the love really shined through. Their relationship was so cute and perfect and I enjoyed myself immensely.

I listened to the audio version of this story. The narrator did a very good job and I enjoyed her narration style. It was lively and entertaining.

It took me awhile to get into the plot of this book. The misunderstandings and pranks between Bree and Chip were definitely juvenile and that had me on edge for a bit. However, I lightened my grasp on reality and decided to just enjoy the silliness of it all and began to enjoy the story much more, including many moments where I laughed out loud.

The later portions of the book had some really good, heart-tugging scenes between the main characters, making them much more likable to me than earlier in the story. I especially liked the epilogue.

I couldn’t really find much of a faith thread in this book. Just a mention of characters going to church. I would, personally, call it a clean read. I could see this book being enjoyed by Christian fiction readers as well as by general market readers.

I received a complimentary copy of this audio book. All opinions are my own.

I just finished The Cul-de-Sac Wars in one day. I mean when you read it I guarantee you will do the same. The book is first hilarious. Chip and Bree are one of the best characters I have ever read. Both hating living next to each other and trying to out do each other with the pranks they pull. I have to say my favorite is the dog. Every time Bree is around the dog it tackles her. I hate to say I looked forward to that dog getting Bree each time! I have no idea how Melissa Ferguson came up with the pranks but each out did the other. When you read the book and will see Bree last prank, you will agree it was classic!! I can relate to Bree, not being able to keep jobs long enough, because that is me. I can really relate to her and the author did such a great job making these characters relatable. There is a storyline that is more emotional too. Again it is relatable. This book was priceless. I loved it from the first page to the last. If you are wondering to read this book do, and don't worry if you haven't read the first one because you don't need to read the first book to understand this one. If I could give this more than 5 stars I would. This will go down to my favorite Rom Com of the Year!!

I am always down for a good enemies to lovers and Ferguson's inherent personality blasts through the page! The same winsome voice that hooked so many readers in Ferguson's debut is as sparkling here. Balancing humour with warmth and featuring a unique hook and premise. Perhaps what I most enjoyed is that the romantic elements are a little bit stronger. Both leads explode on the page with authentic banter ad intelligent dialogue.

Readers of Sophie Kinsella and Sally Thorne have found their clean reads match!

Is there anything better than fiction that makes you feel happy, laugh and is a blast to read? Talk about the perfect escape from reality and I think The Cul-de-Sac War accomplishes this very well!

A fast read, you'll spend all your time jumping from one snappy dialogue bit to the next, caught up in the banter (and possible hatred) between two feuding neighbors. The plot keeps hopping from one get-back scenario to the next with both Chip and Bree loving to hate each other and pull pranks on the other that is always sure to ruffle feathers.

Not all fun and games, both Chip and Bree are faced with their own set of challenges with work, love and family, all while slowly, possibly, maybe? falling in love with their next door neighbor. A delightful read from beginning to end, I loved the escape from life this book so easily and charmingly offered.

Readers looking for a fun and lighthearted romantic comedy will certainly want to read this latest from Melissa Ferguson. This is one romance that will have you laughing throughout the book.

The story centers on Bree and Chip, who have a pleasant first meeting that seems as if it will be one of those instances where people meet and never cross paths again. As luck would have it, Bree and Chip meet again under some not so pleasant circumstances when they discover that he has bought the house next door to Bree’s and has plans for a renovation.

To add to their issues is Chip’s dog Russell. Russell is a large mastiff that has taken a liking to Bree and loves to show her some slobbery love, along with a few unexpected tackles to the ground.

I’ll admit, this story was highly predictable, but it was lots of fun following the relationship and the pranks the characters pulled on each other. I highly recommend this to readers who need a fun rom-com to lighten things up in their life.

I absolutely loved “The Dating Charade” and was counting down until I could read book two. It is so perfect for a relaxing, hilarious, and light-hearted read. The cause-and-effect of this book is hysterical and just when you think things are resolved, it all gets worse. But in that way that makes you go, “Oh no, this didn’t really just happen... but it did. And... it’s kind of believable.”

So yes, I loved this book when it comes to that note. The style is funny, but not a forced funny. Just a natural, full-of-wit funny that I can fully appreciate.

It is, of course, a romance. That being said, it really did not focus on the lustful side of romance or even on the physique of others, which I do appreciate. It was a totally plausible haters-to-lovers plot.

The one downfall I see with this book is the Christian element. There was pretty much a conversation about where Chip went to church and then one heart-to-heart scene with a good moral lesson, but not really much about God Himself. In my personal opinion, a strong faith element would have made this the perfect weekend read. As is, it’s clean and moral, but not as strong in the faith element.

The narrator of "The Cul-de-Sac War" by Melissa Ferguson is brilliant! I love the way she pulled you into the story right along with the actual words, I highly recommend the audiobook for those that listen to books or like me rarely listen to an audiobook.

Plot review: This'll be a quick review since I may come back once I have a paperback.

All right, I loved The Cul-de-Sac War by Melissa Ferguson, it was witty, humourous, romantic, and completely needed right now.

The way this rom-com ended was absolutely adorable. You must order it right away!

A fun, almost slapstick-humorous romance about two neighbours who keep making each others lives difficult. This was so comedic, especially the audiobook - the narrator's dialogue had the funniest intonations, it made it all ten times funnier. A thoroughly enjoyable escapist read.

I was going through English Audiobooks available for review on Netgalley when I saw the title "The Cul-de-Sac War" by Melissa Ferguson. The very first thing I checked was the language settings in Netgalley. Then I google the word "Cul-de-sac", what I gauged from the title was the book must be around neighbors. And that was described in the blurb. Based on these few things, I applied for the review copy in exchange for an honest review, and luckily I won it. So here I am discussing the sweet love story.

Written in settings of a cure rom-com (you may say sitcoms), the story revolves around the personal & professional lives of Bree & Chip. I don't want to discuss the plot once again as the blurb is more than enough. Let me talk about things I liked about the story
1. Pranks between Bree & Chip
2. Gentleness of Chip in all situation never losing his temper
3. Characters of the girlfriend of Chip & boyfriend of Bree. Both were caring and marriage material.
4. Fun-filled incidents ( I know the very first point was a prank, but I feel I should mention it)

Coming towards good points about the book
1) Light read
2) Language is easy and age-appropriate
3) The pace of the story is fast and will maintain
4) To the point story

Overall I enjoyed listening to this book. The book deserves 3.75 stars out of 5.

4.5 stars! This was soo much fun!! Oh my goodness.
Bree’s just an easy-going girl trying to keep her job at the theater. At the first of the book she meets a handsome guy and is attracted to him... until she later realizes he’s her new next-door neighbor who is out to ruin her life.
Chip’s just moved into his new run-down house, planning to fix it up. What he doesn’t plan is for one mistake to lead to a full-on war with his beautiful but clearly insane new neighbor. But if that’s the way she wants to play it, he’s in.
After weeks of despising each other, things start to change. But is it possible that in the end they’re actually falling for each other?

I had soo much fun reading this book. Goodness, it was hilarious. I laughed out loud several times, grinned pretty much nonstop, and even facepalmed a few times *hello second-hand embarrassment*
Seriously, it was just so comical and crazy and fun. I might have liked this even more than The Dating Charade.

I really loved the characters. Chip and Bree were so great together.😂
I loved how Bree just wanted to ruin his life but he just got a kick out of driving her crazy. It was the best.

There were so many things that I liked.
Russel’s (the dog’s) obsession with Bree was hilarious. All of the pranks. The notes on the window. Gerald and Evie.
Bree’s parents! oh my goodness, they had me rolling. Especially the dinner. 😂
I could go on...
But as much as I love all of the hilarity, I also loved the deeper message I got from the book. I really like how Melissa Ferguson gives you a balance of the hilarious stuff but also incorporates a deeper meaning to the story. I feel like the message in this one was so well-timed for me to read. It hit me in a way I didn’t expect. Although there wasn’t much faith content, I think I got the message she was trying to get across and I really got it.❤️

I’m new to rom-coms but I’m really glad I tried Melissa’s out. They’re the perfect reads for when you just need a break from the world. They’re just fun, crazy, and hilarious but they’ve got a deeper meaning too.

Also, it was clean. YESSS, thank youuu to the author!!!
I’m always a little nervous about reading a book about adult’s because I’m afraid it’s gonna be unclean or make me uncomfortable in some way. But nope. This was completely clean. Sigh... that makes me really happy!

Anyways, I would recommend this if you’re looking for a fun read!

Melissa Ferguson has an uncanny knack for choosing premises that make me nervous about whether I will enjoy her stories. Two people dating but keeping a big secret from each other (The Dating Charade)? Yep, pretty nervous. But I took a chance and was surprised by how much I enjoyed the story. Next door neighbours who are determined to one-up each other in a prank war? Again, more than a little nervous. And as it happened, I didn’t enjoy this story as much as her first. However, there were definitely things I did enjoy, too, so let’s start there.

Firstly, I enjoyed Ferguson’s writing style; it’s engaging and well suited to the rom com genre, and the back-and-forth between Chip and Bree was entertaining. She also has a varied cast of characters to round out the story. I’m not generally a fan of pranks (hence the nervousness), but these ones were creative and relatively harmless, even if they did become a little over-the-top—the last one in particular. That said, Chip’s 230-pound English mastiff named Russell and his literally overwhelming love for Bree brought forth the most laughs from me. No pranks required!

There were other elements that didn’t work for me, however. The events that brought the turnaround in Chip and Bree’s relationship were believable, but I thought things progressed too quickly after that. I was also creeped out by the fact that these people apparently didn’t close their curtains at night time and could see into each other’s bedrooms (and yet managed to avoid any embarrassing moments). And there were aspects of their working lives that seemed a bit far-fetched as well. Would Bree really be able to support herself financially as a member of the local theatre troupe? I risk going into some spoilers if I mention too much about Chip’s situation, but suffice to say I wondered about his business sense and the plausibility of him getting a $2million line of credit in order to bid for the job he wanted.

And yes, I realise these are pragmatic quibbles and this is a rom com and “COME ON! It’s not supposed to be 100% realistic,” but everyone has their areas where they’re happy to suspend disbelief and areas where they just get stuck, and those were mine. That said, I can see this story appealing to readers who aren’t concerned about those kinds of details in their rom com reads.

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. This has not influenced the content of my review, which is my honest and unbiased opinion.

While I was intrigued enough by the plot to finish the book, there wasn't anything particularly sparkling or fantastic about this book. I'm not sure it's a story I'll even remember in a few weeks.

The plot did get me a little invested in the lives of Chip and Bree, the two main characters. They were each working through their own problems and trying to figure out what the future held for them so it was interesting to see how they moved forward.

Now onto the topic of romance. I appreciated that this book was very clean. It's difficult to find adult romances without explicit sex scenes every couple of chapters so I was happy to find this book. However, there was a lack of many things in the romance department. I just wasn't particularly invested in the romance. Chip started the book with a girlfriend and Bree had a lovely man interested in her. I just wasn't feeling the spark. It heated up a bit towards the end, but even then I wasn't completely on board.

Moving onto characters, a lot of them kinda threw me off, even the main characters. I was most confused by the relationship between Evie and Bree. It seemed like they weren't really friends, but also they were? Evie was kinda annoying and I definitely wouldn't have been able to have her as a roommate. I'm not really sure what she contributed to the story either. She was in or mentioned in a lot of the scenes so I'm just confused about her purpose in the story.

Overall, I'd give this book a 2.5. I was interested enough to want to know how the book ended, but also, not very impressed with the story in general. I'd probably still read another book by this author though.

4 stars! In this cute romantic comedy Bree and Chip are next door neighbours engaged in a prank war with each other. As the pranks escalate so do their feelings and this makes for a fun and sweet enemies to lovers romance.

This one was a bit slow to start and I spent a lot of the book wanting the pranks to get more out of hand but the final prank played was very over the top and I loved it. The pair have some sweet moments throughout the book, which they spend hating each other and playing pranks. As they play more pranks and annoy each other their relationship grows until they call a truce and have their happily ever after ending. I enjoyed the characters in this novel and felt there was good chemistry between Bree and Chip. The supporting characters added to the story and Bree is best friends with Cassie, the main character in Melissa Ferguson's other book, The Dating Charade. I liked the overlap and now want to read this author's other book that focuses on Cassie because I enjoyed the Cul-de-Sace War so much. There was a great ending that really wrapped everything up nicely and it was just a happy book full of funny moments and misunderstandings.

Bottom line is this book is a cute romantic comedy with an enemies to lovers trope. If you like this genre, you should add this book to your TBR!

3 1/2 stars.

I almost gave up on this one, but I'm glad I stuck with it.

When Bree and Chip meet, there are sparks between them, but things take a different turn when she discovers he's the new neighbor.

I wish the first 2/3 of the book were as cute as the last 1/3. Their "pranks" got old and I couldn't see how they'd redeem themselves to the other. Fortunately, they did, even if it almost too late.

It kept me reading and I enjoyed the ending and the epilogue.

I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

It wasn't horrible, but I just didn't want to read it any more. I was completely tired of the 'war' escalating without reason, the main characters were immature, and nothing really made sense. The author introduced all sorts of things that were either not correct (Shakespeare is in the public domain) or dumb (the whole scene with the H pretending to paint). It was too much and yet not enough.

Life is too short to continue to read lousy books.

It took me over half the book to really get invested in the characters. Once I hit the halfway mark, I did enjoy the story more, but at times I just didn't understand why they didn't connect better without being so wishy washy. I really liked the more serious elements to the story that dealt with the sickness of a young eight-year-old girl with cancer and the loss of a sibling. I thought the author did a nice job of realistically bringing the quarrelsome couple together. All in all, it was a good read. I was longing for some faith content, but all that was mentioned was that the male MC had a Bible beside his bed, and he attended church.
I would recommend this to fans of lighthearted romantic comedies and clean reads.

FTC Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. These are my honest thoughts.

This story was the fun, lighthearted read I needed this week. It was a quick read that was laced with humor and quirky events. I liked that the leads were a stage actress and a construction worker. These roles paired off well and played against each other beautifully.

I was disappointed that there was zero faith thread. The characters solved all their problems themselves and didn’t turn toward God at all. I found this odd in a Christian fiction book. Still, it was an enjoyable story, even if it didn’t go as deep as I would have liked because this thread was absent.

Another disappointment was that one character used bad language in the only scene he appeared in. The thing about this was that the bad words were bleeped out (“bleepity bleep,” for example). While I appreciated that the author did not use the vulgar words themselves, the usage of bleeps made it feel like the character was being censored. Thankfully, this only happened in chapter two, so it was easy to move forward from this moment and enjoy the rest of the book.

While the war itself felt quite immature at times—and was admittedly an “adolescent war,” as the leading lady said once—it was creative and fun to read about and definitely entertained me for hours. The farm animals were an especially funny surprise. The banter between Bree and Chip was phenomenal. This was, perhaps, my favorite aspect of this story. The author definitely has a knack for creating witty characters who interact in believable ways. This was what kept me interested in this story and cruising through the chapters.

My favorite moments, though, were the ones that pinched my heart. The road trip late in the story. The creepy-children-wallpaper experiment. The duct tape dress straps. These and other heartfelt moments made me sigh and smile, and they were what truly endeared this book to my heart.

The neighbor’s dog was fun, and his interactions with Bree were some definite highlights for me.

I was a little surprised the bumper sticker never came up in the dialogue between Bree and Chip. I thought for sure it would be a bone of contention between them, but it faded as fast as it popped up.

Featuring Singin’ in the Rain was an added bonus. This is one of my favorite musicals, and I was glad to see that it was highlighted in this book. The written-out tap dance moves were fairly easy to imagine in my mind as I read.
