This is Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and Phantom of the Opera cross over fanfiction Very cringe. Honestly, I much preferred the Gaston character over the Beast. He was the only interesting character. The h is useless. I actually resent her for not seeing how messed up Gaston was. The H was flakey. He spends most of his time sighing and running his hands through his own hair. The first night he’s mean and then he’s not. I wouldn’t call him rapey, but he only cares about the h’s beauty. Considering the bulk of the story is a plot device, it takes an awful long time for us to see the MCs interact. Both excessive detail and lazy storytelling. Everything just keeps going around in circles. At least 80% of their interactions consist of them staring at each out with sorta lustful thoughts. But yet no one finds it awkward. I do. Anyone else disturbed that the H's BFF immediately assumes the H is a rapist and murderer? I don't know what the H is, but major incel vibes. Spineless creep.
Let me share one of the most poignant scenes... the H starts sharing some of his haunted past. The h then shares her sexual assault. AND THEN she immediately says this “have… you ever been with a woman before?” (the answer is very obviously no, but it’s asked anyways). The h has no redeeming qualities.
Considering they randomly live together for over a month, it takes until 75% for the first kiss. They finally hook up (with lots of crying and brooding) at 85%. I really wanted this book to work. I love the idea of the ties to the French Revolution. What a disappointment....more
