The hero, Duke of Lovingdon, lost the love of his life, his wife, and their daughter (you know that at the very first page, so it's no spoiler) to some kind of an illness. He is a man of only 27-28 years and already his heart is broken. He swore to himself to never love again, for he knows, that "till death do us apart" may come a lot sooner than later and he is sure, that he won't be surviving the second time of losing someone he loves. To say it simply, he is a broken man, but daaaaaaaamn is he a hot and lovely scoundrel. you can't help falling in love with him. He pretty much blamed himself in his families death and so he started washing the guilt with alcohol, women and cards. The perfect gentleman became a perfect blackgourd, the kind that never kissed a woman, but otherwise had no qualms about enjoying his life to the fullest of it.
BUT.. of course there is a but :D His life was suddenly invaded by a woman he very much wanted to kiss <3 Grace is a wonder <3 I loved her a lot. She is so strong, even with all of her terrible scars... She is a daughter of Frannie and her Duke (from Scoudnrels of St. James series). She has lot's of interesting interests so to say :D But the most important of her interests is Lovingdon, for she has loved him since being a child. But he is a different man now, the one who can't really love her back... and so she asks him to use his formidable experience and help her find the love of her life, for she is afraid only a man in love would be able to stand her scars :(( of course Lovingdon WILL eventually agree to the task, he WILL help her find the love of her life and on the way he himself WILL for in love with her too <3
It was such a beautiful journey. It was SO much fun :D I was laughing and smiling from ear to ear :D I'm sure i can't express just how much i enjoyed the whole thing. yes, some parts were very sad, but mostly the whole thing was simply lovely. I adored it all! It was no dark romance! even if it had some real drama in it, it was still lively, still light in a way, that makes you enjoy the process of reading it, without really burdening you too much <3
