Puji syukur penulis panjatkan kepada Tuhan Yang Maha Esa atas berkat, rahmat, dan
karunia-Nya sehingga penulis dapat menyelesaikan tugas makalah ini dengan judul
“Transportation”. Tugas ini penulis buat sebagai bentuk tanggung jawab dalam memenuhi
tugas penyusunan makalah mata kuliah pembelajaran bahasa inggris SD yang diemban
kepada penulis. Tak lupa, penulis juga mengucakan terimakasih kepada Bapak Dody Feliks
Pandimun Ambarita, S.Pd., M. Hum. yang telah membimbing penulis dalam penyusunan
makalah ini.

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of Material

Transportation is a unit that exists in human life. The increase in population

becomes an influence on the transportation they need. What the population needs is
public transportation and public transportation. Public transportation includes public
transportation, taxis, buses, mini metro and others (Susanto, 2004). Transportation
plays a very important role in improving the economy in the two cities. Because
transportation is still related to activities carried out by residents, namely production,
consumption, and distribution. There are many kinds of transportation including
bicycles, wagons, motorcycles, trishaws, auto rickshaws, cars, buses, trucks, trains
and so on.

2.1 The Meaning of Transportation

Transportation is the transferring or movement of things from one place to another.

Means of transport is the way things are moved of transferred to other places. This is
done by the help of vehicles. Vehicles include automobiles, bicycles, buses, cars,
trains, trucks, helicopter, watercraft and aircraft. Transportation is the movement of
humans, animals, and foods from one location to another. Means of travel or
transportation refer ti the different kinds of transport facilities that are often used to
transport people or cargo.

There are many types of transport such as water transport, air transport, public
transport and rail transport.

2.2 The types of Transportation

Transportation is divided into 3 namely land transportation, sea transportation, and

air transportation.

2.3 Purpose and Benefits of Transportation

1. Purpose of Transportation
The main purpose of transportation is to move people and goods from one
location to another. Transportation plays a vital role in modern society and has a
significant impact on the economy, as it enables the distribution of goods and the
movement of people for work, leisure, and other purposes. Transportation also
plays a role in the development and maintenance of social and cultural
connections within and between communities.

2. Benefits of Transportation
 Transportation facilitates essential services such as water supply,
ambulances, fire brigades, school buses, and commuting to workplaces,
among others.
 Transportation plays a critical role in the economic development of a
nation by enabling the transfer of raw materials to factories and the
delivery of finished goods to markets. Improved transportation systems
lead to greater efficiency and productivity, contributing to economic
growth.
 The transportation industry provides many job opportunities, including
truck, bus, and cab drivers, pilots, locomotive engineers, and others.
 Transportation has significantly boosted the tourism industry, making it
easy and quick to travel to previously hard-to-reach or unknown locations.
 Transportation helps people stay connected with friends and family,
bridging the distance between people living far apart.
 Eco-friendly transportation, such as electric vehicles, can help with
environmental conservation by reducing air pollution and carbon
emissions. Enhanced public transportation systems can also reduce the
number of private vehicles on the road, which can help reduce air and
noise pollution.
