English: This video was recorded by Teddy Nee in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, where he and Mandala met at the Southeast Asian Migrant Inspired conference (SEAMi 望見書間). Bantenese, also known as Sunda Banten, is spoken by more than three million people, primarily in the Indonesian provinces of Banten and West Java. It considered by researchers to be a regional variety of the Sundanese language, which is spoken more widely throughout Indonesia. Though Bantenese has no official status in the country, it is a common language or 'lingua franca' between the linguistically diverse communities of Banten and West Java. In recent years, the local government in Banten has launched native-language programming, in an effort to improve the representation of Bantenese in media.
