Note: After going to the Islands, you can return to either Kampot or SihanoukVille. There’s no discount for booking a round trip.
More Notes: When you arrive at the Kampot Port, there’s a small stand on the Pier to get drinks and a bit of food. Otherwise, nothing else around.
When arriving at the Port from Kampot or the Islands, ask for the free Wi-Fi password. When arriving in Kampot from the Islands, walk out to the front gate to get a Tuk Tuk into town if you don’t have transport already.
The ship leaves Kampot at 8:30am. It has 90 seats. Very well could depart a little late.
Looks like 1.5 hours between Kampot and Koh Rong Samloem, 2 hours between Kampot and Koh Rong, and 3 hours between Koh Sdach Island and Kampot. (Don’t believe all the incorrect timetables here. From Kampot, the boat first stops at one pier on Koh Rong Samloem and then to 2 piers on Koh Rong Island. Coming back to Kampot, the boat leaves from Koh Sdach to Koh Rong to Koh Rong Samloem.) All ships arrive in Kampot at 3:30 in the afternoon. (or it could be a bit later.) If you’re going from between Kampot and Koh Sdach, a smaller boat arrives and leaves from the Koh Rong Pier.
The “Kep” service listed above is discontinued.
The best part about having the Kampot Port here in Kampot, is that you can spend a few days in Kampot on your way to or from the Islands.
Maybe not as interesting as the New SihanoukVille, but possibly a lot more fun?!?
You need to find your own way to and from the Kampot Port. Maybe use PassApp, a free App here in Cambodia to get to the Port. About $4+ between the Port and downtown Kampot. 2 people with luggage in one of these, or you can get a bigger one for 3 or 4 people. About $6 – $8.
Otherwise, they’ll maybe take $5 or more to get you right to your destination.
You can share a Tuk Tuk one if you’re traveling alone. Probably $4 for a Tuk Tuk to get you downtown. You can also go directly to your final destination with these Tuk Tuks as well.
Check with your hotel ahead of time and see if they can arrange transportation to or from the Port for you, either free or paid. Free is better.
The bigger hotels on the Kampot River might even send you in their own boat!

Don’t Complain. They won’t go if it’s not safe. Usually high wind or waves. July through October this happens the most. Happens a couple times a year. You may have to stay on the Islands or mainland an extra day or two.)
Prohibited Items: The following items are strictly prohibited onboard:
Dangerous, flammable, or explosive items
Firearms
Narcotics
Smuggled or illegal products
Foreigners will need to show your passport to get on the boat. No immigration, no questions or nothing. They just want to see it. Practice for when the international boats start. Same when you get off the boat in Kampot. No other port in Cambodia does this.
There’s a bathroom on the boat, but better to go on land.
(it’s small and there could be waves.)
They’ll ask you to wear a life jacket before departing.
Unless you’re sitting in the front of the boat in front of the captain.
The front seats of the boat are quieter than the back.
Really no assigned seating.
If it’s safe, the boat captain will let you sit up on the front of the boat.
Very windy, but fun.

The “International” part of the Port’s name refers to future trips between Vietnam and Thailand. Maybe sometime soon.? Maybe?

Quick. Cheap. Fun!
