In addition to being internationally recognized in the fields of neuropsychology and cognitive neuroscience, the University of Iowa (UI) also houses the acclaimed Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine. This medical college is consistently ranked as one of the nation's top medical schools. (#41 in research by the 2023 U.S. News & World Report).
Trainees and mentees at the UI learn to become skilled clinicians and world-class researchers and educators. The UI Stead Family Children's Hospital was also recently ranked #38 in pediatric neurology in the "Best Children's Hospitals" rankings by U.S. News & World Report, as well as among the nation's best in six other categories.
Research Facilities
In addition to being Iowa's top hospital, the UIHC promotes research and development in over 200 specializations and houses an extensive brain lesion registry of over 4,300 patients. The hospital also provides access to state-of-the-art technology, including EEG, fNIRS, fMRI, and TMS systems.

Amana Colonies
The Amana Colonies are a historic German settlement area in Iowa, which now acts as a prominent tourist destination. In addition to serving local food and drink and selling handcrafted goods year-round, Amana also host several holiday events, including Oktoberfest and a Christmas Market.
Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden
The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden is a beautiful 12-acre public garden in downtown Des Moines, which features many seasonal exhibits and a diverse array of plant collections.
Iowa State Fair
The Iowa State Fair is the single largest cultural event in Iowa, and annually draws more than a million attendees! The event features a diverse array of attractions, including the Grandstand musician line-up, theme park attractions, livestock shows, and, of course, the Husband-Calling Contest.
