Vasacast is the leading Starcraft II casting reality in Italy. It prides itself on casting and organizing events both in Italy and abroad.
Biography[edit]
Vasacast is born in November 2011, when Vasa, the founder, had fun casting friendly matches between his friends. Sometimes aggressive and always filled with hype, his casting style merged with a fitting soundtrack, had been immediately and largely appreciated by the Italian community. This is the time when national cooperations with official tournaments began, such as the Italian Clan Championship or Gamers Legacy. The first international event they put their hands on was the 2012 World Championship Series: Italy Nationals, where Vasacast had been invited for a live coverage of the entire event.
International success is achieved in a matter of months, during the 2012 Battle.net European Championship, where Vasacast offered its streaming coverage in Italian, since Jeal and StarEagle were there thanks to their first and second place, achieved during WCS:Italy Nation Finals. The casting style, during StarEagle and Grubby's games had been so appreciated that it gained Vasacast a "Best Caster" award for the event.[1][2]
From that day onward, Vasacast is the reference point for both Italian and International events. They are often busy covering most major international events in Italian, such as 2014 StarCraft II World Championship Series and Dreamhack, but they are also often invited to cast Italian events such as Italian Clan Championship, 1st Next SC2 Tournament or the The Game Championship 2013
In addition to its offer of cast and streaming, Vasacast also tries to support the best Italian talents, by sponsoring their presence in international events such as the DreamHacks.
It took them less than an year's worth of work, thanks to the birth of a staff and their website, to have Vasacast become one of the main references for the Italian eSports, and can count to this day on a network of cooperations with the most prominent web portals in Italy. Over the course of time, some companies have decided to give Vasacast their trust and support. Specifically, we're talking about: EIZO, Nanoxia, Cooltek, SteelSeries, nVidia and Next.
Promotional activities and events[edit]
"Spedizione Italia" 2012 - Evaner and StarEagle at Bucharest Dreamhack 2012[edit]
The first international experience for players directly sponsored by Vasacast, has been the 2012 DreamHack Open: Bucharest, where Evaner and Stareagle, accompanied by Vasacast's staff, competed into the event. StarEagle was taken out during Group Stage #1, beaten by Giantt and elfi, while Evaner reached Group Stage #2 and met his demise at the hands of NightEnD, Nerchio and fraer.
Vasacast Invitational 2013[edit]
The first International event completely and directly organized by Vasacast, has been the Vasacast Invitational 2013: 16 players competed against each other in a direct elimination bracket for a $3,000 prize pool. 13 players were invited, while 1 and 2 spots were reserved specifically for both the Italian and South American Qualifier Tournament winners.
This event, in addition to establishing Vasacast on an international level, has also sprung a lot of cooperations with foreign communities in Spain, United Kingdom, Brazil, Russia, and Poland. As a matter of fact, the event was cast and streamed in all of these languages.
The tournament has been won by LucifroN, who beat fraer during the finals. VortiX placed himself 3rd, followed by ClouD who sat on the 4th place.
Vasacast Summer Party[edit]
The first offline event entirely organized by Vasacast, the Vasacast Summer Party took place in Montevarchi. Here, an agritourism buried deep in the Tuscan countryside, was turned into the stage for this event. More than 100 people had gathered here from all over the nation in order to witness this event, where all the best players in Italy competed against each other.
This time, StarEagle grasped the first place, beating Evaner during the grand finals and winning a sponsorship for the 2013 DreamHack Open: Bucharest, with travel and taxes completely covered by Vasacast.
"Spedizione Italia" 2013 - Reynor and StarEagle at DraemHack Bucharest 2013[edit]
Vasacast is back in Bucharest on this third Italian Expedition to the DreamHack. This time, it will be Reynor and StarEagle to throw themselves into the fray. Reynor will lose on Group Stage #1, while StarEagle will be able to reach Group Stage #2.
EIZO Christmas Cup[edit]
Vasacast set up and organized the first EIZO Christmas Cup in cooperation with EIZO. This tournament's prize pool was in EIZO hardware pieces. An online event, where the best 8 Italian players took part in the tournament, which has obtained more than a decent amount of success due both to the return of JeaL and Cloud, two among the best players Italy ever had. Both of them are currently retired.
Vasacast Invitational 2014[edit]
On March 22 and 23, Vasacast Invitational 2014 took place as the second edition of Vasacast's entirely organized international event. Featuring 32 players and a $5,000 prize pool, a live event from a real television studio with an Italian audience, has proven itself to be an international success.
The whole event has been played in Milan: in addition to all the Italian players gathered there, jjakji and StarDust were also invited and present to the event. This edition featured players from all over the world, including South Korea.
VortiX won the tournament, reaching the finals and facing jjakji himself. MajOr placed himself 3rd while StarDust ended up 4th.
"Spedizione Italia" 2014 - StarEagle, Narcotic, Nogard and Reynor at DreamHack Bucharest 2014[edit]
Fourth edition for our Italian Expedition, who has once again set its sails to Bucharest. This time, 4 players competed in the event: StarEagle, Reynor, Narcotic and Nogard. Surprisingly, all of them got past the first phase with an excellent feedback from the community, who appreciated the Italian players commitment. Sadly, none of them managed to get past Group Stage #2, also due to the large number of high-level Korean players there.
