Liquipedia:Notability Guidelines

From Liquipedia VALORANT Wiki

Please note that inclusion of pages in mainspace is ultimately up to the discretion of the Liquipedia administrators

Sadly, not everything can be added to the wiki. We want all our pages to be as up-to-date as possible and to meet our quality standards in general. That is made harder the more pages are created, not to mention additional factors, such as the fact that lower ranked teams tend to not have social media where they announce transfers, and so on.

Now, these are not non-negotiable. This wiki contains coverage of certain teams, players and scenes that do not actually meet our guidelines, yet we allow them because there is an active volunteer(s) that keeps those pages of high-quality. This however does not mean that we will allow you to create a page for your team just because you say you will keep it up to date. On the other hand, if you were to be highly interested in, say, keeping the Spanish national scene up to date, then go ahead! In the cases where this is not the case however, all of this means we have to prioritise: we try to keep our coverage to just the top and the sub-top tier of competitive VALORANT as defined by the guidelines below. Any pages that do not meet these guidelines will not be deleted, but will be moved to your user space.

If you disagree with the decision for a certain page, please do come chat in our Discord.

Guidelines[edit]

Last updated: January 25th, 2025

When is a page deserved?[edit]

Teams and players will need 10 points to be considered for page creation. They will receive points for tournament placements as follows:

  • Players that make an appearance in S-Tier tournaments are eligible for a page.
  • 10 points for a top 4 finish in A-Tier tournaments.
  • 5 points for a top 4 finish in B-Tier tournaments or a top 8 finish in A-Tier tournaments.
  • 2 points for a top 2 finish in C-Tier tournaments or a top 8 finish in B-Tier tournaments or a top 16 finish in A-Tier tournaments.
  • 1 point for a top 4 finish in C-Tier tournaments or a top 16 finish in B-Tier tournaments or a top 32 finish in A-Tier tournaments.

Page creation will ultimately be always at administrators discretion.

Players & Coaches[edit]

Who and what to add?[edit]

Players and team coaches may receive their individual pages, as long as they surpass a certain threshold of notability. Check the bullet points below. If your chosen player or coach fits at least one of these, then they are likely notable to warrant a page on this wiki.

  • Achievements: If the player has achieved notable results, according to the broad guidelines in When is a page deserved?, and has minimum earnings of $500 USD;
  • Achievements: If the coach has achieved notable results, according to the broad guidelines in When is a page deserved?;
  • Sponsored: If the player is a notable member of a VCT Partnered Organisation.

To create a new player or coach page, follow the Player Template.

Analysts[edit]

Analysts may receive pages when they surpass a certain threshold of notability as detailed below.

  • Notable Team: (all of)
    • During their time with the team, the team has competed in at least 5 S-Tier or high quality A-Tier tournaments

    • The team has finished at least 4 of these events inside the Top 50% (for S-Tier) or Top 4 (for A-Tier)

Teams[edit]

Teams may receive pages when they surpass a certain threshold of notability. Check the bullet points below. Please note that notable results will generally be the primary determinant of notability, however if your chosen team fits one of these, then they may be notable to warrant a page on this wiki.

Game Changers[edit]

As Game Changers teams primarily compete within their own circuit, separate guidelines are applied. A page may be created for teams and players that meets one of the following criteria:

The tables on the left show how the points requirements to meet notability are calculated. Please keep in mind that they are only a guideline and that admin decisions are final until circumstances (new events broadcast or missing events added) change.

If the broadcast talent in question also has results as a player or coach, they will also be taken into consideration when notability is being determined.

Any pages existing prior to these new guidelines or any subsequent changes to them will not need to retroactively meet the new standards; they will be left untouched.

Tournaments[edit]

Individual tournament pages will be created provided they meet either of the following requirements and standards:

  1. The tournament is a part of an official riot circuit.
  2. The tournament meets the minimum prize pool required to guarentee coverage.
  • Tournaments must have at least a $500 USD cash prize.
  • Tournaments with less than $500 USD may receive limited coverage provided a minimum prizepool of $200 USD exists.

Note1: non-cash prizes do not count towards the minimum cash prize threshold.
Note2: all information must be readily available to editors.
Note3: only prize relevant placement is guarenteed coverage.

Tournaments over $200 USD may receive limited coverage assuming the following criteria is met:

  • All information is available and public to any editor covering the event

and the event fulfils at least one of the following criteria:

  1. Minor Region Event (defined as any event outside of North America North America or Europe Europe)
  2. Country or Sub-Region Localised event
  3. Game Changers focused event
  4. University, Collegiate or High School event
  5. Any other categorically restricted entry tournament may be added at at the Administrators direction.

N.B. this exception does not apply to “low elo tournaments” or any similarly advertised tournament

If you are unsure if a tournament page should be created, join the Discord and an Administator will assist you.
Note4: Post-hoc tournament pages can be added without available public information if information is verifiable
Note5: Always at the wikis administrators direction.

Note5a: If the TO fails to give said information when asked, does not reply to the editor in question or fails to update those page themself then those pages will be moved to the userspace or deleted.
Note5b: This counts for the whole league or tournament in question, it will be moved to the userspace until the problem has been solved or it will be deleted if only 1 season is on the wiki and/or the pages are not format in the correct wiki style.
Note5c: If it is known that the TO or their previous/current crew has caused damage/harm to other people or their brand then we will not allow/(re-)move the league from Liquipedia to save the integrity of the Liquipedia Brand.

To create a new tournament page, you can follow our Tournament tutorial.

Leagues[edit]

League Style or Tournament Series pages can be created provided they meet either of the following requirements and standards:

  1. The sum of the League’s prize-pool totals $1,000 across its existence, even if individual tournaments are below threshold
  2. Information regarding the events are publicly available

Note: Always at the wikis administrators direction.

Chinese Wiki Content[edit]

Due to the frequent lack of available information, Chinese teams, players and tournaments may be subject to additional scrutiny, with page creation more widely created and approved at administrator discretion

Maps[edit]

We try to accumulate as much information about maps as possible. Map pages usually include notable features.

User pages[edit]

Completely optional, but make your userpage a good indication of who you are! Feel free to be friendly or use some Userboxes to spruce things up.
