Tiramisu Coffee is the latest trend to be sweeping social media and today we're bringing you our variation of this delicious and indulgent treat. A sweet creamy custard is served over hot coffee and cream then topped with shavings of dark chocolate and a sprinkle of warm cinnamon.
As Amy March once quipped to Laurie in the beloved classic, Little Women, “I'd rather take coffee than compliments just now.”
Well, the sentiment rings true- this week has felt dreadfully long and all I can think about right now is the warm sun outside my window calling me to come outside for a bit, with perhaps a cup of this Tiramisu coffee to keep me some company.
It's funny how coffee never loses its novelty. My mornings have been the same for most of my adult life now- and it always sees the day begin with a hot cup of joe, sometimes it ends with one too.
That being said, there hasn't yet been a coffee trend I haven't tried. In my other life, I must have been a barista. No wonder I have this calling to serve up java beverages so frequently. You'll find a lot of those reels on our Instagram page as well.
Today's drink is truly a dessert coffee. It doesn't take much time to make, but it is rich and sweet.
First you want to use the freshest eggs you can get your hands on and make sure they are pasteurized too. You can do this easily at home through a variation of methods which Simply Recipes breaks down in a really good in-depth guide.
From there simply whip your egg yolks with vanilla and sweetened condensed milk until you have reached a frothy, custard-like consistency.
Then comes the magic of layering. Pour strong hot coffee over a dollop of whipped cream (the whipped cream is optional), and if you're looking for a more adult version, now's the part where you can even add a splash of rum. Pour the custard on top and finish it all off with dark chocolate shavings and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
This drink reminds me of a tonic my father used to make us when were children- mind you they were old-world Italians. To mend a sore throat, my father would beat hot, hot espresso with honey, rum, and an egg. Turns out to be one of those age-old home remedies and you know what, I think it worked 😉
So, if you're feeling a little under the weather, or you're just in need of something to soothe the soul, then this drink is for you.
Tiramisu Coffee

Ingredients
- 2 egg yolks (fresh & pasteurized)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tablespoon whipped cream
- 8 ounces hot coffee
- Dark chocolate, for topping
- Cinnamon, for topping
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together yolks, vanilla, and sweetened condensed milk until thick and frothy.
- Add a dollop of whipped cream to the bottom of your desired mug, pour over your fresh hot coffee. Pour the custard on top, then top it off with chocolate shavings and cinnamon.

Hi William, thank you for stopping by! So this really depends on how you brew your coffee. If you're using a k-cup machine, pour-over, French Press, percolator, etc. For this particular recipe, we used a k-cup machine on the 8 ounce setting.
As far as beans go, that is entirely up to you and your preference though I do suggest a strong coffee. Again, as far as the ratio goes, that comes down to your brew method. How are you making your coffee? You can make it anyway you prefer for this recipe by the way! There is no right answer! I'm happy to help you perfect this drink once I know the specifics of your coffee maker.
