Hide the entry in the global account rename log: Владик Звездин → Vendonanala. --Vendonanala (talk) 13:04, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

Not done global renames are not private. If you want to disassociate yourself from contributions under your prior username you should cease using that account, optionally ask for it to be renamed to a generic name, never use it again, then start a new account. — xaosflux Talk 14:31, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
Here's what you can hide: "Запись в журнале о переименовании аккаунта при этом останется, но по запросу в некоторых случаях может быть скрыта и она." https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Википедия:Удаление_учётной_записи Vendonanala (talk) 14:54, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
Your account has been active on handful of wikis; each one has a separate account rename log (plus one or more page move logs, in case you have an user (talk) page on that wiki). Hiding the log on one wiki is not going to make a significant difference, as it is easily available on other wikis, or as page moves of an username. Properly hiding an account rename would mean a lot of coordination efforts between functionaries of dozens of projects, which is generally not done. Martin Urbanec (talk) 14:57, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
Pages such as the one you mentioned above describe practices on a single project, they do not apply to other projects. There are also even more indicators of a changed username, chasing them is mostly futile. — xaosflux Talk 20:46, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

bigdelete request for w:en:User:Hris Asnv/sandbox

Status:    Done

(NOTWEBHOST violation) Need deletion at w:en:User:Hris Asnv/sandbox on the English wiki; user has, for years, confined their activities almost exclusively to creating a mixture of actual and fake results of reality TV competition. Note that Oleg Skrypka is listed as a winner of the competition--in 2028. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 20:08, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

@Drmies another administrator previously declined a speedy deletion on this page, has there been a discussion for this request? — xaosflux Talk 20:51, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
User:Xaosflux, that was two years ago, and since then the user has basically made no mainspace edits--so if there ever was a balance between sandbox and mainspace, it's no longer there. Plus, it's hoaxy. But I'll ask JBW real quick on their en-wiki page (haha I don't know how to do all those fancy interwiki links). Thanks, Drmies (talk) 20:54, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
Almost two years later I have no idea why I had doubts about the speedy deletion. (Note that I said "I'm not so sure the page qualifies for speedy deletion", not that I was sure it didn't qualify.) However, whatever my reasons were then, I am completely sure that it now does qualify for speedy deletion. It's one of the most extreme cases I have ever seen of English Wikipedia's speedy deletion criterion U5 (misuse of Wikipedia as a web host). Please delete it. JBW (talk) 21:05, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
Thanks JBW! Drmies (talk) 21:24, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
Thanks, enwiki is my homewiki so will leave this for another steward, but it certainly does seem to qualify. It almost looks bot-generated, so it may need to be salted or that user may need to be blocked. — xaosflux Talk 23:08, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
Done Since there is no objection anymore, I went ahead. It said The page "User:Hris Asnv/sandbox" is scheduled for deletion. Please be patient., so hopefully the page disappears soon :). --Martin Urbanec (talk) 23:38, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

Deleted articles

Status:    Not done

Hello everyone, I come here to get some help. Yesterday, I created a pair of interlingual articles of Wikidata Page Vesoul (Q203309) but I noticed that WikiBayer has kept deleted all of them with justification "No meaningful content". Theses articles were well made and I'm pretty sure there content were meaningful, at least more than most of articles : for exemple I created a page of Vesoul in Runa Simi (.qu) and he actually deleted it while this page had meaningful content et references (cf a draft of this page in Runa Simi). Can anyone assure me that this page is more useless than other page in the same language dealing of other French city like Montpellier or Saint-Étienne ? In my opinion, this person is clearly abusing his power as an administrator. Could anynone try to stop him from doing anyting he want ?— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ghkkj (talk) 10:18, 23 May 2023 (UTC)

The deleted pages are machine-translated spam (also linguistically incorrect) and not helpful for the respective projects. Deleting such pages is the usual procedure. Also, I am not the only one who deleted the user's spam. For example hsbwiki. The user has already been asked to refrain from doing so, but continues. The user has been active with his account and IP for a long time. See

  • Ghkkj, I find it interesting that you completely skipped the first part of the deletion reason, which isn't just "No meaningful content", but actually "Machine translation / No meaningful content". It's very unlikely that you speak every single of these languages, so I suggest you limit your article editing on projects with a familiar language and cease creating pages cross-wiki. Translations by Google Translate or similar machine translation tools can at times be very inaccurate. If you can mass-create articles, you can also expect them to be mass-deleted at some point. ~StyyxTalk? 16:15, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
I don't see the point of accusing me of being a machine translation. Or maybe should we absolutely speak the language to create an article ? It's funny the fact that you are accusing me to not speak the language of those articles but deleting them for linguisticly incorrect. So I guess you can speak and understand the languages of all of those articles to judging it's incorrect right ? Also, I guess you check the native language of any users and compare if their creation is actually is the same language right ? Many pages had been massively created useless articles by the same people ; Wikidata is full of it (exemple : French cities like Roubaix, Montsoreau etc) but you keep paying attention on what I do). Moreover, it's useless to say that you are not the only one who had deleted my articles (which actually means unintentionnaly you are not sure of what you have done), but many people on differents wikis has accepted my articles or even improve them (which is the main interest of a collaborative encyclopedia) : they modify my articles, add some new content, or just add a message to let people knows the article need some modifications, however no one but you two has blindly deleted my articles. Is that possible for you to clearly answer to that or no ? Why 50 people did like this to my articles but not you ? Unless all of them are stupid, you two are the only one who understand everything ?
I also find it interesting that you don't answer to none of my questions : why are you keep deleting my articles and leaving others useless articles (Montpellier, Saint-Étienne...)
I keep saying that you are clearly abusing your power - deleting articles without understanding the language of them must not be allowed. Ghkkj (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 21:00, 23 May 2023 (UTC).
Machine translating is disruptive, so it is a pretty valid thing to "accuse" you of. Many wiki's have it as a reason for speedy deletion and it is not an abuse of power to delete the mess created by them. It is common sense to not publish things that you are not sure of its accuracy, so it is useful advice to suggest someone to not create articles in a project where they don't speak the language; and I hope you actually follow that advice.
WikiBayer is a local admin at barwikipedia (one of the deleted articles) and speaks the language, so they are qualified to know whether it was linguistically correct or not. Given that it wasn't, it is normal that this applies to your other creations as well. There are additional clues in formatting and mark up that give away the origin of the translation anyway.
It's your articles that have been deleted because you were the one creating it at the home wiki of a global sysop, so it isn't a miracle they found you and subsequently looked at your global contributions to see if it was an issue on other projects as well. ~StyyxTalk? 21:33, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
1 - First sentence, first mistake : Machine translating is disruptive => No, actually. Which is disruptive is to create wrong, unsourced and unstructured articles. You are pretending that creating any articles in differents languages, even perfect articles with text, photos, references etc is disruptive ; you actually don't understand what is the interest of this encyclopedia. <= I hope you will clearly respond to that
2 - it is useful advice to suggest someone to not create articles in a project where they don't speak the language; and I hope you actually follow that advice. Absolutely right, but it's also useful to not delete articles that you don't understand languages, unless you ask for each articles to native speakers the accuracy of all of those articles right ? to make sure you are not doing mistake by deleting articles which are actually well made right ?
3 - Very very glad to read Wikibayer is also able to speak Quechua, Kernowek and dozens others international languages (some articles he deleted where in these languages). He must be very smart to speak natively all of these languages.
4 - Given that it wasn't, it is normal that this applies to your other creations as well. => is that a joke ? Mistakes made on one article means automaticly mistakes on every articles made ? Without even reading them ? And you have the arrogance to say it's normal ? I hope you do the same for everyone else right ? One mistake made by a contributor => all of his contributions deleted ? Ghkkj (talk) 00:43, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
You say that it's disruptive to create wrong articles, which machine translation mostly is. I highly doubt that those articles were accurate even though you might think they are correct. Ever heard of the Scots Wikipedia saga? Most of the wikis where you created the article don't have an active community. Eventual mistakes would likely take years before being spotted by a person knowledgable of the language. It is a huge risk to mass create articles and introduce errors with them, which is no way near the interests of Wikipedia nor the Wikimedia Foundation. ~StyyxTalk? 07:55, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
I close this. The User is now locked. Furthermore, based on the behaviour in this discussion and the previous discussions in Wikidata, no insight on the part of Ghkkj is to be expected.---𝐖𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 👤💬 07:25, 10 July 2023 (UTC)

The IP: 138.25.15.6 (talk · contribs) vandalize user pages on several sites, es.wikiversiy, es.wikiquote and es.wikisource, i'm administrator on es.wikisource and blocked, but not blocked in others sites. Block IP in es.wikiversiy and es.wikiquote --Shooke (talk) 11:07, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

It seems this request was actually about 38.25.15.6, which is already globally blocked. @Shooke: We have a more specific page for such requests, please use Steward requests/Global :) Cheers, Hoo man (talk) 19:38, 20 July 2023 (UTC)

Update to cswikt gadget

Status:    Done

Hello, I would like to request a small update to wikt:cs:MediaWiki:Gadget-CleanDeleteReason.js. Due to a change in the user interface, the gadget no longer works, but could be fixed by changing line 29 from $( '#wpReason' ).val( '' ); to $( 'input[name="wpReason"]' ).val( '' );. I tested the proposed change in my private user script and can confirm that it works. Unfortunately, cswikt currently has no interface administrators, which is why I am making a request here.
