About me
I am a 52 year old married man from the Netherlands, father of two sons and a daughter
Most of my childhood was spent in the Netherlands. But I also spent 6 years in Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Kenya and the United States during my teenage years. I studied Business Administration at the Rotterdam School of Management.
My work
I work at Kennisnet and am responsible for our Open Domain advocacy). The Kennisnet Foundation is a public Dutch organisation which is publicly funded and has the goal to be "THE dutch organisation for ICT use in Education". I am responsible for the domain "Learning Resources and Metadata" and spend most of my time thinking about and promoting Open Educational Resources within Dutch Education.
Through my work at Kennisnet I have been involved with Wikimedia since February 2005.On December 15th, 2006, I became part of the Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation as an appointed member. After several years as a vice-chair I became the chair from 2013 until 2015. I departed the board in December 2015 after serving 9 years as a board member.
After a decent "Wiki-break" I joined the board of the Dutch chapter in 2019. I am currently the chair of the Dutch chapter. I enjoy bringing people together for our common mission.. Spend a lot of my time on the Wikimedia European Affiliates Cooperation (https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_European_Affiliates_Cooperation) and the new capacity exchange project (https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Capacity_Exchange)
