OTRS thread
[edit]Hi. As this is relating to internal process, I've moved your thread over to the OTRS wiki. See here. Rjd0060 (talk) 13:44, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
This is a message from the Wikimedia Foundation. Translations are available.
As you may know, the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees approved a new "Access to nonpublic information policy" on 25 April 2014 after a community consultation. The former policy has remained in place until the new policy could be implemented. That implementation work is now being done, and we are beginning the transition to the new policy.
An important part of that transition is helping volunteers like you sign the required confidentiality agreement. All Wikimedia volunteers with access to nonpublic information are required to sign this new agreement, and we have prepared some documentation to help you do so.
The Wikimedia Foundation is requiring that OTRS volunteers sign the new confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015 to retain their access. You are receiving this email because you have been identified as an OTRS volunteer and are required to sign the confidentiality agreement under the new policy. If you do not sign the new confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015, you will lose your OTRS access. OTRS volunteers have a specific agreement available, if you have recently signed the general confidentiality agreement for another role (such as CheckUser or Oversight), you do not need to sign the general agreement again, but you will still need to sign the OTRS agreement.
Signing the confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information is conducted and tracked using Legalpad on Phabricator. We have prepared a guide on Meta-Wiki to help you create your Phabricator account and sign the new agreement: Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information/How to sign
If you have any questions or experience any problems while signing the new agreement, please visit this talk page or email me (gvarnumwikimedia.org). Again, please sign this confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015 to retain your OTRS access. If you do not wish to retain this access, please let me know and we will forward your request to the appropriate individuals.
Thank you,
Gregory Varnum (User:GVarnum-WMF), Wikimedia Foundation

Thanks
[edit]Thanks for restoring the page history. I started realizing I had made mistakes about slightly before my talk page access was revoked again. (as I removed some of my own last comments that hadn't been replied to and collapsed the thread) I continued communication mostly here using my global user page. There is more to say, but I'm holding off until the inaccurate rumors about off-wiki threats (there are no such threats) have been redacted.
@PierreSelim and Rama: I don't know if you typically report back, but please do so in this case. And if you need any more information or anything else, just let me know. — Alexis Jazz (ping me) 13:04, 17 April 2020 (UTC)
Ajay kumar PHOTOGRAPHY
[edit]c:Commons:Administrators' noticeboard#Request for deletion of Images uploaded by a new user
If Ajay links to the Instagram account and back you can use c:Template:Verified account web so other admins in the future can also easily verify the files are legit in case anyone questions them. The template was originally made for c:Commons:Username policy#Well-known names and names of organizations but could work here as well. — Alexis Jazz (ping me) 17:38, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
- Yup, I'll be sure to grab a screenshot and forward it to OTRS for recordkeeping purposes. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 17:39, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
Commons:Deletion requests/Template:Resolution restricted-by-sa
- I'm afraid it may not be a free license. Assuming "resolution" simply means "non-artificial detail" (so upscaling would be allowed, but getting a higher quality from, say, the website of the photographer is not allowed) that restriction on its own is probably fine.. We can't be absolutely certain that in no jurisdiction in the world one might be able to have a different copyright status based on resolution, so from that point of view it's valid. But it shouldn't carry over through ShareAlike. Imagine someone takes File:Pulpit Rock Preikestolen Norway.jpeg, opens it in a photo editing program, combines it with File:Atthis costae.jpg, scales the end result down, uploads it and (of course) attaches this "Resolution restricted-by-sa" license as required by File:Pulpit Rock Preikestolen Norway.jpeg. Another person would not be allowed to cut out the part of the picture in which the birds and the Norway photo were combined, scale it back up and recombine it with File:Pulpit Rock Preikestolen Norway.jpeg, because Licensee may not use higher resolution versions of this work. Better wording might have been Licensee shall not use versions of this work that are not accompanied by this license. Regardless of all this, I agree this kind of homebrew license as a primary license should be discouraged. It would be a shame to lose Saffron Blaze's photos though, I hope someone manages to get through to make them authorize a change to the license text. — Alexis Jazz (ping me) 02:37, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
