Wikipedia 20/Afrikaans

Afrikaans Wikipedia celebrated its 20th birthday on the 16th November 2021. To mark the occasion Wikimedia South Africa will hosted a celebration for the Afrikaans Wikipedia editing community. The event included discussions on the growth of the Wiki over the years, challenges the Wiki faces, and possible solutions to continue the growth of the Wiki and its community. The event coincided with the publication of the 101,000th article on Afrikaans Wikipedia.

Event

An event was held to celebrate and talk about Afrikaans Wikipedia on its 20th birthday at 16:30 on 16 November 2021. The event was organised by Deon Steyn from Wikimedia South Africa and in partnership with the Suid-Afrikaanse Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns in Pretoria. Only about 20 people were invited to attend due to COVID-19 restrictions.
