History & Origin of the Nike Dunk Low

The Nike Dunk first appeared in 1985 and was designed by Peter Moore.
At the time, Nike was beginning to assert itself as a basketball equipment manufacturer and decided to expand its catalog to include more b-ball models.
Nike's focus was on college basketball, with a new model to complement team outfits: the Nike Dunk was born.
The famous 'Be true to your school' campaign launched the model during the 1985-1986 basketball season, equipping major universities such as Michigan, Kentucky and Georgetown.
The Nike Dunk was then adopted in the 90s by the skateboarding community, which revived the model's popularity and gave rise to Nike's SB division.
It wasn't until the 2000s that collaborations and limited editions finalized the silhouette's essential status.

Description and structure of Nike Dunk Low

The Nike Dunk is inspired by 3 popular basketball models of the time: the 1984 Legend, the '85 Terminator and the '85 Jordan 1.
These 3 designs were blended to create the Nike Dunk we know today.
The model was launched initially as a high version like its inspirations, and Nike also created a low version that's more discreet and easy to wear off the basketball court.
