Biomekanik ialah kajian tentang struktur, fungsi dan pergerakan aspek mekanikal sistem biologi, pada mana-mana peringkat daripada keseluruhan organisma kepada organ, sel dan organel sel, menggunakan kaedah mekanik.[1] Biomekanik ialah satu cabang biofizik.
Etimologi
[sunting | sunting sumber]Perkataan "biomekanik" (1899) dan "biomekanikal" yang berkaitan (1856) berasal daripada bahasa Yunani Purba βίος bios "kehidupan" dan μηχανική, mechanikē "mekanik", untuk merujuk kepada kajian prinsip mekanikal organisma hidup, terutamanya mereka. pergerakan dan struktur.
