LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Tuesday wasn't just the first day for the Las Vegas Aviators' new ballpark.
The team showed off its new mascots, named Spruce and Aviator, created to fit with the new aviation-themed nickname.
According to his biography, "Spruce" is a goose that lived in the Bellagio fountain. The name is a reference to the Spruce Goose,Howard Hughes' H-4 Hercules aircraft.
"Aviator" is described as a mysterious adventurer who wears a top secret "intergalactic jet propulsion system."
The team's previous mascot during the Las Vegas 51s era was Cosmo the alien.
The Las Vegas Aviators won their home opener at the Las Vegas Ballpark on Tuesday, beating Sacramento 10-2.
