Mayor Misty Buscher, Springfield Fire Department Chief Ed Canny, Fire Department personnel, O’Shea Builders, Archimages, Inc., and other City officials are planned to officially break ground for Fire Station #13 on Friday, June 16 at 10:00 a.m.

Fire Station #13, to be situated on Spaulding Orchard Road just west of Illinois Route 4, will be the City’sfirst addition of a new fire station since Fire Station #12 on Koke Mill Road in 1996.

The addition of this station will expand coverage and greatly increase response times to the southwest quadrant of the city including Westchester, Lincolnshire, Piper Glen, Panther Creek and the Interstate 72 Corridor.

O’Shea Builders will oversee the construction of the new Fire Station #13 as its final installment.

Thanks to the unwavering commitment of our Fire Chief and City Council, we will be investing over $20 million towards the construction of three firehouses across Springfield,” said Mayor Buscher. “This is a testament to our collective dedication to providing our first responders with the facilities and resources they need to carry out their critical work.”
