SPRINGFIELD & CENTRAL ILLINOIS FORECAST
THE WEATHER IS TAMING DOWN AFTER A WET & WINDY AND STORMY FRIDAY EVENING
SATURDAY NIGHT: Scattered light rain possible, otherwise mostly cloudy. A chance for a little light snow overnight. Low: 31
SUNDAY: Scattered light snow and flurries in the morning with mostly cloudy skies. Then clearing out. Rather breezy & chilly. High: 44 Low: 30
MONDAY: Warmer with mostly sunny skies. High: 64 Low: 47
TUESDAY: Partly cloudy and warmer still. High: 71 Low: 52
WEDNESDAY: Scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder. High: 63 Low: 32
The potent storm system that generated wicked winds on Friday and triggered an outbreak of severe storms has advanced east of us, but we are still feeling some residual effects. Expect a little lingering scattered rain Saturday night, and overnight into Sunday, that precipitation may mix with or switch over to some scattered light snow. If snow does develop, it would be very minor with just a dusting. But Sunday will be a rather chilly day with highs only in the 40s, which is a far cry from the record-breaking warmth on Friday when the afternoon high temperature soared to 83 in Springfield, setting a record.
Looking ahead, St. Patrick's Day will be pleasant with mostly sunny skies and highs rebounding into the 60s. Then Tuesday features partly cloudy skies with temperatures climbing back into the 70s.
The next round of wet weather would be Wednesday with a possibility of scattered showers and a chance of a few thunderstorms.
