Directly south from the Lumbridge castle cellar. You must start The Lost Tribe to gain access this way. A pickaxe is needed to enter for the first time.
The caves require a light source, unless the player has lit a fire of eternal light near the rope entrance. If the player is within 3 tiles of the rope entrance from the Lumbridge swamp without a light source, they will automatically climb up to escape. Minimum recommended items include a light source with tinderbox, rope, spiny helmet and antipoison.
Wall beast(level 49) - Level 35 Slayer required, spiny helmet needed for protection from attacks (there are holes in the wall where the beasts can attack you). If navigating around the caves, the Wall beasts can be avoided by stopping one square behind the holes in the wall and then running past them.
In the north-west and the south-middle sections of the cave, an open light source (such as a candle, torch or oil lamp) can ignite dangerous swamp gas, resulting in an explosion, dealing 12 damage and extinguishing the light source. You will need a tinderbox to relight it.
Upon falling through a trapdoor in the Dorgesh-Kaan mine, the player will wash up in a pool near the northern entrance, extinguishing the light source.
There are two stepping stone obstacles. Failing a stepping stone obstacle will extinguish the player's light source.
Wall beasts are located throughout the cave, often occupying narrow corridors. To avoid them, simply stop one square behind the hole in the wall and run past them.
If you enter the cave without a light source you will get a warning in your chat stating: "You hear tiny insects skittering over the ground...". After a few moments another warning states: "Tiny biting insects swarm all over you!" and you will rapidly take damage.
