Pronouns

Pronouns are a group of words used in natural English speech as a substitute abbreviation for a noun that has usually already been referenced. In Old School RuneScape, there are three "Pronouns" settings available that change how the game refers to the player. In order of appearance in the settings drop-down menu, they are: He/him, She/her, and They/them.
A player's chosen pronouns do not affect their in-game abilities in any way, nor does the choice change or restrict the player's available Body type. Pronouns are chosen during initial character creation on Tutorial Island, but the choice can be changed later at any time, as often as desired, and at no cost. It is either set through the settings menu (Wrench icon > All Settings > Gameplay > Pronouns) or by speaking to the Makeover Mage.
NPCs sometimes refer to the player using appropriate pronouns or titles. For example, Ned refers to the player as "Lad" if the player selects "He/him" pronouns, "Lass" if the player selects "She/her" pronouns, and "Kid" if the player selects "They/them" pronouns. There may also be times when game messages not spoken by an NPC include language that is affected by the "Pronouns" setting.
NPCs also are occasionally referred to by the use of pronouns, though sometimes not consistent with one of the singular "Pronouns" settings available to players. For example Giant Mole and Zulrah are both referred to by He/him pronouns or She/her pronouns in various places. Either sometimes it can happen that NPCs were not designed with a specific correct set of pronouns in mind, there is a lore related reason for the discrepancy in which NPCs use which pronouns, or it could be interpreted that both sets of pronouns are acceptable and correct to refer to that NPC.
