SAN RAMON, CA — Representatives from four San Ramon 2022 Blue Ribbon schools traveled to Washington, D.C. to be honored.

In September, Coyote Creek Elementary School, Gale Ranch Middle School, Iron Horse Middle School, and Windemere Ranch Middle School joined 25 other schools in California and 293 other schools around the country in receiving the prestigious award, which is granted based on student performance and academic programs.

San Ramon Valley Unified School District had more schools win the Blue Ribbon designation in 2022 than any other California district, according to SRVUSD. District schools also represented roughly 14% of all California districts.

Awards are given in one of two categories: Exemplary High-Performing Schools, which are among the state’s highest performing schools based on state assessments or nationally normed tests, and Exemplary Achievement Gap-Closing Schools, which are among the state’s highest performing schools in closing achievement gaps between a school’s student groups and all students.

“We are proud of our Blue Ribbon schools who go above and beyond to support our students’ success,” Superintendent Dr. John Malloy said in a statement in September. “These schools exemplify everything we stand for in San Ramon Valley Unified School District because their students are effective thinkers, creators, collaborators and communicators who will most definitely make a difference in our world. We look forward to celebrating these accomplishments in the coming weeks with our schools and communities.”
