Alert Danbury Mall Workers Thwart Counterfeit Money Crimes: Police
Danbury police responded to a report of incidents involving counterfeit money being used at several stores at the mall.

DANBURY, CT — A series of crimes was thwarted by quick-thinking employees at the Danbury Fair Mall, according to police.
On Jan. 23, Danbury police responded to a report of incidents involving counterfeit money being used at several stores at the mall.
Police say Juliana Campetti, 21, of The Bronx, and Sergio Pesantes-Saenz, 27, of Queens Village, NY, attempted to use counterfeit bills to make purchases at several mall stores. Their efforts were detected by store employees, who alerted security.

Officers located Campetti and placed her under arrest, according to police spokesperson Erin Henry. Pesantes-Saenz was later placed under arrest at the Danbury Police Department.
Campetti was charged with organized retail theft, conspiracy to commit organized retail theft, four counts of fifth-degree larceny, two counts of conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny, six counts of first-degree forgery and two counts of conspiracy to commit first-degree forgery.

Pesantes-Saenz was charged with organized retail theft, conspiracy to commit organized retail theft, fifth-degree larceny, first-degree forgery, and conspiracy to commit first-degree forgery.
