Depending Upon Where You Live in Enfield, Your Neighborhood May Be Ranked as the Best Place To Live in CT
A new report lists the top 268 places to live in Connecticut and the rankings are surprising in some cases.
We love rankings, well, because you love rankings. Whether it be the best schools, best places to live, or whatever it is, everyone loves to talk and debate the latest rankings.
“HomeSnack,” which is two bloggers who analyze the best places to live in the United States, have come up with their latest ranking called “These Are The 10 Best Places To Live In Connecticut According to Science.”
They say they’ve analyzed 268 communities in Connecticut using only science to guide their rankings.

HomeSnack says it’s combed through FBI data, studied weather patterns, education records, unemployment rate, income levels, and even short commute times to shape their list.
They do admit that they gave more weight to communities with larger populations believing there is more to do in bigger communities, which improves the overall quality of life.

According to their list, Orange is the best place to live in Connecticut, followed by Mansfield Center and also part of the top 10 include: Woodbridge, Wallingford, Rocky Hill, and West Hartford.
But where this list seems a little unrealistic is New Canaan is ranked No. 12. And in the ‘you can’t make this up’ category, Greenwich, which is usually considered one of, if not the the top place to live in Connecticut, is ranked 149.
Some other head scratchers include Madison all the way down at No. 30, Darien No. 48, Easton, No. 49, Trumbull, No. 63, Ridgefield, No. 121, Milford, No. 125, Fairfield, No. 133, Westport, No. 135, and Guilford, No. 197.
And Enfield and its hamlets also fall into that category.
Hazardville is ranked as the 63rd best place to live in Connecticut with Enfield ranked as 163rd and Thompsonville at 212.
Hazardville with 14,369 residents, has a median income is $78,357; an unemployment rate of 6.9 percent; an average commute of 25.77 minutes; the crime index is 39.1; and there’s an average of 189 sunny days per year.
Enfield with 44,699 residents, has a median income is $68,356; an unemployment rate of 6 percent; an average commute of 22.82 minutes; the crime index is 56.3; and there’s an average of 190 sunny days per year.
Thompsonville with 8,833 residents, has a median income is $46,730; an unemployment rate of 6.9 percent; an average commute of 20.08 minutes; the crime index is 138.4; and there’s an average of 188 sunny days per year.
Education costs are $16,885 per student.
