Body scanners are nothing new to prisons and jails. Authorities said many facilities of this type have implemented them.
Officials said the Intercept Tek 84 Body Scanner provides a high-resolution scan of the full body in a single image.
“With the addition of this new body scanner it will prevent contraband from entering the Sheriff’s Office Jail,” Commander Bobby Richardson said in a release. “The technology that is now available to us will reduce the amount of strip searches that have to be completed, and provide an extra layer of security for our facility.”
