Bowie Citizens' Police Academy Starts March 1
Residents can apply to learn more about how the Bowie Police Department does its job.
BOWIE, MD — Curious about how police are trained? Then apply for a spot in the Bowie Police Department’s second Citizens’ Police Academy beginning March 1.
The ten-week training session is a way to open up the lines of communication between the Police Department and the community it serves, the city says in a news release.
Participants will learn from police officers and other members of the criminal justice system through interactive classes and facilitated discussion.

Topics to be covered will include: internal investigations, tactical training technique, judgment enhanced training, citizen/police interaction and media relations.
The sessions meet at the Bowie Police Department once a week on Tuesday evenings from 6 to9 p.m., March 1 through May 3.
