NEW YORK CITY — A Brooklyn high school is on edge for the third time this week after a caller phoned in a bomb threat Wednesday morning.

Fort Hamilton High School is not being evacuated “at this time,” tweeted Council Member Justin Brannan, who confirmed the latest threat in a spate of posts.

The Bay Ridge high school received similar bomb threats Monday and Tuesday, NYPD officials said.

“Law enforcement says they are working on tracing the calls,” he tweeted. “But 3 days in a row?! This is embarrassing and more importantly traumatizing for our kids.”

Police believe the three bomb threats in as many days are the work of copycat prank era, Brannan tweeted.

A NYPD spokesperson told Patch that the threats Monday and Tuesday were “unfounded” and noted that students have testing this week.

The latest threat occurred about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday when a person called the school secretary and said “dropping a bomb” before hanging up, Brannan tweeted. Department of Education officials also sent parents a message that there were “social media posts” Wednesday morning about a bomb threat.

“School Safety is conducting scanning of all students today as a precaution due to unconfirmed threats earlier this week,” the message stated.

Both the NYPD’s 68th Precinct and the FBI are investigating, Brannan tweeted, noting false bomb threats are a Class E felony.

Patch reached out to the FDNY for more information, but so far hasn’t received a reply.
