NEW YORK — Wet weather could spoil warm spring temperatures in New York City this weekend. More than an inch of rain will hit the five boroughs by early Monday morning despite temperatures getting into the 70s on Saturday, the National Weather Service says.

The first round of showers will start Friday evening following a small chance of drizzle in the morning and early afternoon, the weather service says.

Close to three quarters of an inch of rain will hit Central Park by about 8 a.m. Saturday before the mercury rises to a high near 72 degrees, the forecast shows. Clouds are expected to cover much of the sky throughout that day.
