AUSTIN, TX — Funeral services for Cedric Benson — who distinguished himself on the gridiron as a member of the University of Texas at Austin football team before joining the NFL — are scheduled this Saturday, with visitation scheduled the day before.

Cook-Walden Funeral Home posted details about the upcoming service along with a detailed obituary. The funeral will come a week after Benson and his passenger died in a motorcycle accident in West Austin. The collision occurred when Benson turned on Mount Bonnell Road onto RM 2222 before colliding with a vehicle.

Benson's passenger, Aamna Najam, 27, also perished in the crash. She was a recent UT-Austin doctoral graduate from UT, according to reports. Funeral details for her service have not been released.
