Seahawk Michael Bennett's Summer Reading List Heavy On Social Struggle

A photo of Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett at the People's Summit last weekend shows a weighty summer reading list.

SEATTLE, WA - Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett attended the People's Summit in Chicago over the past weekend, and was spotted at a booth run by Haymarket Books stocking up on titles - perhaps - for summer reading. The stack of books in Bennett's arms includes activist classics like "A People's History Of The United States" by Howard Zinn and "How Capitalism Underdeveloped Black America" by Malcom X biographer Manning Marable.

We can only guess that some of Bennett's selections will be given away because several are duplicates (we reached out to him via Twitter, but haven't heard back). Bennett is well-known around Puget Sound for his charity (as are his teammates - Doug Baldwin, for example, is helping build a community center at Renton's Cascade Elementary School). In March, Bennett pledged to donate all of his endorsement money to causes like building inner-city gardens and providing better nutritional options in public schools.

Bennett's selection of books touches on a variety of weighty social topics, from feminism to activism in pro sports. If you're interested in replicating Bennett's summer reading, here's the full list of books he's holding in his arms (from top to bottom):
