This is a potential area for work at Wikimedia-Developer-Summit-2016. "Content access and APIs" is about getting our data in-and-out of the system (e.g. rest.wikimedia.org). The central problem in this area: "how do we make accessing and distributing our data easier and more useful?"
Session proposals to consider in this area:
- Primary interests for this area
- Content access and indexing
- Content replication
- Offline
- Analytics
- Change auditing
- Overlapping interests
- Non-Wikimedia installs: secondary interest for this area; primary interest for Software Engineering (T119032)
- Content structure & APIs: overlapping with Content Format (T119022) (these may be truly overlapping primary interests)
- User interface construction: Overlapping with User interface presentation (T119162)
- Media - this area has a lot of overlap with other areas. Some of it is about accessing the media and non-canonical representations (e.g. thumbnails), and some of it is about the canonical format (thus fitting Content Format T119022)
- Advanced editing (probably more important for Collaboration T119030 and Content format T119022)
