[Epic] Redesign Item UI for Wikidata repo
Open, LowPublic

Description

The Statement section's statements take up a lot of space. This means that it can take a lot of time to scroll to other sections below like Identifiers and Interwiki links for items that have many statements.

For example, see Q30.

It should be able to be minimized/collapsable like this image. This could be done by placing a button next to the section header that collapses all of the section's contents.

Similarly, the other sections should be collapsable.

@Lydia_Pintscher Why is this an “Epic”? The task's title is way too generic for the given description and what is discussed on http://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Project_chat/Archive/2013/06#minimizing_Item.27s_UI all of which could be done without too much effort but which would arguably require a little more thought and discussion. Way too exaggerated to call these minor design changes a “Redesign Item UI”.

Doesn't “Redesign Item UI” actually refer to what is described on https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:UI_redesign_input ?
This is imho the link that should be in this Epic's description or otherwise this ticket's title should match its description and there should be another ticket for the actual UI redesign so we can follow its progress (what is the progress on this redesign anyhow?).

May I ask why you are acting like you are still an active member of the team? I find this very much irritating.

May I ask why you are acting like you are still an active member of the team?

@thiemowmde I am foremost a sometimes active, sometimes not so active member of the wider WM, MW, Wikidata etc. community (and have proudly been so since 2007 when I have first started coding for MW).

Right now I “act” as a community member trying to get up to speed on what's going on in Wikidata and Wikibase. In my time as a WMDE Wikidata developer in Denny Vrandečić's initial team we have embraced community engagement. So I find your comment above a little irritating (and topic distracting) to be honest.

Does anyone have CSS to fix this? How hard can it be to fix?

FWIW, the gadget "compact items" which I made does almost exactly what is illustrated in @Yamaha5's comment above.
