Half Height Container

Intermodal Solutions Group (ISG) supplies a range of multipurpose half height containers and Rotainers.  Half height Containers are perfect for shipping of dense cargo such as Mineral Sands, Salt, Iron Ore, and many other cargo types.

The half-height container is 1450mm high to allow the units to be shipped in a normal 2900mm high container slot (9’6 high). This can save logistic companies a fortune when returning empty containers.

Half-height containers are designed to be multipurpose containers, with rear doors, tipping hatchs and hard lids.

The ISG half height container is IMDG BK2 certified for transporting dangerous cargo.

Rear Doors with swing header

ISG half heights have both tipping hatch, and also rear doors.  The rear doors are fitted with a “swing header” allowing a forklift to access the container via the doors.

Versatile and Customised

Not only can the ISG half height container be used for end tipping or for general cargo via the rear doors, it can also be side tipped to discharge cargo.

Our customers use the half heights with rotainers, and also side tipping trucks.

ISG can also customise our half heights to suit your specific project with optional features like roof loading hatches.

Efficient Copper Transport in Chile

Efficiently moving copper from Chilean mines to Puerto Ventanas (PVSA) for ship loading was made possible through ISG’s patented half height containers, leased by the rail company from CS Leasing (CSL), shifting this into an operational expenditure (OPEX).

These pioneering hybrid containers, a first from ISG’s engineering team, allow for decanting via tippler or rear hatch. Green containers sourced from the Andina mine are loaded with copper in Rancagua and travel directly by train to the port. Meanwhile, blue containers from the Teniente mine are copper-loaded on trucks, transported to the rail sliding at Los Andes, and seamlessly transferred to rail wagons.
