पृष्ठभागोऽयं यन्त्रेण केनचित् काले काले मार्जयित्वा यथास्रोतः परिवर्तयिष्यते। तेन मा भूदत्र शोधनसम्भ्रमः। सज्जनैः मूलमेव शोध्यताम्।

श्रावणः, पुं, (श्रवणेनाचरति न तु कार्य्येणेति । श्रवण + अण् । पाषण्डः । इति मेदिनी ॥ (श्रवणेन गृह्यते इति । श्रवण + “शेषे ।” ४ । २ । ९२ । इत्यण् । शब्दः । इति काशिका ॥) वैगाखादि-द्वादशमासान्तर्गत-चतुर्थ-मासः । श्रवणानक्षत्रयुक्ता पौर्णमासी श्रावणी सा यत्र मासे सः । (श्रवणा + अण् ।) तत्पर्य्यायः । नभाः २ श्रावणिकः ३ । इत्यमरः ॥ नभः ४ । इति शब्दरत्नावली । स च द्विविधः सौर- श्चान्द्रश्च । कर्क्कटस्थरविको मामः सौर- श्रावणः । कर्कटस्थरविप्रारब्धशुक्लप्रतिपदादि- दर्शान्तो मासश्चान्द्रश्रावणः । चान्द्रोऽपि द्विविधो मुख्यो गौणश्च । तत्र मुख्यचान्द्रश्राव- णोयकृष्णप्रतिपदादिपौर्णमास्यन्तो मासो गौण- चान्द्रः श्रावणः । मुख्यलक्षर्ण प्रागेवोक्तम् । इति मलमासतत्त्वम् ॥ * ॥ तत्र जातफलम् । स्वयं भक्षयेच्च । उभयदिने पूर्व्वाह्णे मुहूर्त्तान्यून- पञ्चमीलाभे पूर्व्वदिने पूजा युग्मात् । श्रावण्यां पौर्णमास्यां श्राद्धमावश्यकम् । इति कृत्यतत्त्वम् ॥ श्रवणानक्षत्रसम्बन्धिनि, त्रि ॥

Aṅgiras had told Bhīṣma that if one remained controlled and spent the month of Śrāvaṇa taking food only once a day he was given the honour of abhiṣeka (ceremonial bath ?) wherever he went and became the prosperer of his kinsmen (śrāvaṇaṁ niyato māsam ekabhaktena yaḥ kṣapet/yatra tatrābhiṣekeṇa yujyate jñātivardhanaḥ//) 13. 109. 26.
