Mary Kay Ash

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mary Kay Ash (born Mary Kathlyn Wagner; May 12, 1918 – November 22, 2001) was an American businesswoman and founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics, Inc.

Mary Kay Ash (Mary Kathleen Wagner) was born in Hot Wells, Harris County, Texas, USA.[1] Her parents were Edward Alexander and Lula Wember Hastings Wagner. She graduated from Reagan High School in Houston in 1934.[2]

Disappointed when she was passed over for a promotion in favor of a man she was training, Ashe retired in 1963 with the intention of writing a book to help women in business. The book turned into a business plan for her ideal company, and in the summer of 1963, Mary Kay Ash and her new husband, George Hallenbeck planned to launch Mary Kay Cosmetics.[3]
