Nathan Dempsey (born July 14, 1974) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey defenceman. Dempsey played a total of 260 games in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, Los Angeles Kings and Boston Bruins.
Career
[change | change source]Before playing in the NHL, Dempsey played 3 seasons with the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League (WHL). He was drafted with the 245th overall pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft.
Dempsey spent most of his time with the Leafs's AHL affiliate St. John's Maple Leafs. During his time there, Dempsey was able to win the Fred T. Hunt Memorial Award for best exemplifying sportsmanship, determination and dedication in 2001–02.[1] Aside from North American leagues, Dempsey has also played for Eisbären Berlin of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) during the 2004–05 NHL lockout and SC Bern of the National League A (NLA). After his time with SC Bern was done, he retired from playing professional ice hockey in 2008.
