Learn about User Groups
Groups are used to organize different types of resources based on common attributes (such as their department or location within your organization) and set the same restrictions or permissions across the members of the group. Users, Assets, Job titles, and Asset Types can become members of the group and share the same settings:
- Cost and Billing rates (in conjunction with Job Titles or Asset Types)
- Direct Manager
- Profile
- Calendar
- Timezone
- Language
- Landing Page
Using Groups in different scenarios
A Group can also be used in a different context to satisfy different business cases. For example, a User gets Billing rates from a specific Rates Group organized by function, but their capacity will be managed as part of a different resourcing group determined by geography.
- Rates Group: Use a group as a reference in conjunction with Asset Types or Job Titles to determine which Cost and Billing rates are used for resources
- Group Job Title: Using Groups together with Job titles to hold Cost and Billing rates for both User and User placeholder resources
- Group Asset Type: Using Groups together with Asset Types to hold Cost and Billing rates for both Assets and Asset placeholder resources
- Resourcing Group: View the resourcing group in the Capacity planning view
