Land Rover fills the gap between the Range Rover Evoque and the Velar with an extended version of the Evoque. That car has already appeared in camouflage costume in front of the lens of our spy photographer, but Techzle can now show you the first real photos of that Evoque LWB.
The current second generation Evoque is 4.37 meters long, which makes it considerably shorter than the next Range Rover: the 4.8 meter long Velar. It was already known that Land Rover has a longer version of the Evoque in the barrel. This set of photos, found by Techzle from the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Transport, shows the Evoque-with-a-buddy for the first time.
The extended Land Rover Evoque has a wheelbase that at 2.84 meters is no less than 16 centimeters longer than that of the original. At 4.53 meters, the car length is also 16 centimeters longer than that of the Evoque as it is now at the dealers. All the extra inches seem to benefit the rear seat passengers. It seems that Land Rover is simply making the rear part of the Evoque longer and that immediately explains the seemingly immense rear door of the Range Rover Evoque ‘LWB’.
Range Rover Evoque (current model)
The introduction of the extended Range Rover Evoque seems to coincide with the arrival of the facelifted version of the Evoque. The Evoque ‘LWB’ visible in these photos seems to be equipped with the already well-known R-Dynamic package, hence the relatively sporty bumper work. Although hardly anything changes at the rear, we only see slightly different trim parts in the bumper, the front of the Evoque is going to be overhauled. The grille seems to be a few centimeters higher than that of the current model and therefore runs further down into the bumper. The horizontal opening that is currently located directly above the license plate is thus referred to the wastepaper basket. We expect Land Rover to present the longer Evoque along with updated versions of the well-known ‘short’ Evoque to the public later this month in Shanghai. Although the extended Evoque has also been seen in test suit on European soil, we do not dare to say with certainty whether it will actually be on the market here.
