- Mark Morgan is a human from the cartoon portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Mark Morgan is a scientist and devoted father to his daughter Jessica. In the future year of 2007, Morgan works in the fields of metallurgy, robotics and palynology. He has a pathological hatred of Transformers, both Autobots and Decepticons, which he shares with his professional partner Gregory Swofford.

Mark Morgan remained in communication with his daughter Jessica and colleague Gregory as their spaceship traveled close to a star about to go nova. The purpose of this trip was to test a new metal alloy their team had developed. The mission was a success, but Swofford and Jessica brought home two other discoveries—the lifeless body of Optimus Prime and a sample of strange red spores.
In their laboratory, Gregory deduced that the spores were a plague that intensified hatred and aggression. Morgan was about to dismiss his daughter's concern about the spores getting loose when their lab was attacked by the Terrorcons. Jessica saved her father by pushing him out of the way of falling debris but was caught under it herself. The Technobots arrived to fight off the Terrorcons and to help Jessica. Morgan blamed the attack on all of the Transformers and conspired with Swofford to use the spores and Optimus Prime's body to destroy them all.
As doctors tried to save Jessica's life, Morgan was hard at work trying to revive Optimus Prime. When he learned his daughter was awake, he rushed to the hospital only to find to his horror that she was surrounded by Autobots. They had given Jessica a mechanical exoskeleton to compensate for her paralyzed legs. Morgan chewed out the Autobots for turning his daughter into a robot and took her home. Unable to revive Optimus, Morgan and Gregory were about to melt down the body of the Autobot leader, but Jessica's tearful pleas made them stop. Morgan then convinced Jessica to bring the Autobots to the laboratory in order to infect them with the spores. Jessica agreed, but told her father that she was probably going to hate him from that moment on.
Led by Rodimus Prime, the Autobots arrived at the lab to take back the body of their former leader. Many fell into the trap and were infected. Morgan himself threw a canister of spores at Rodimus, but missed. The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 1
