JAIPUR: Around 500 yoga enthusiasts took part in the yoga session that was organised on International
Yoga Day on Thursday at Sawai Maan Singh Stadium.
Many of the political dignitaries, including
Rajasthan home minister Gulab Chand Katariya, mayor of the Jaipur city Ashok Lahoti, Arun Chaturvedi, district collector Siddharth Mahajan and others were present for the occasion and performed yoga with the citizens.
On the occasion, Gulab Chand Katariya said, “It is a pride for India that an ancient health practice is being celebrated around the world. This is all been possible due to the efforts by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. By celebrating this day, we are giving a message to the world about living a healthy life.”
Along with the bureaucracy, students of 10 schools and more than 30 yoga centres were present there to participate on the prestigious day. The weather was cloudy and it was drizzling. Many thought that it could ruin the day but took a sigh of relief after it stopped.
People from all religious background and many nationalities participated there. Muslims, Sikhs and foreigners participated in the event and said that yoga is an ancient health form which should not be associated with any religion or country as it is beneficial for all.
