LUCKNOW:
Samajwadi Party's Mainpuri MP
Dimple Yadav on Wednesday said her party stands "neither with the Soros issue nor with the Adani issue" and only wants Parliament to function without interruptions.
She expressed hope that the treasury benches and the opposition will show their commitment toward smooth functioning of Parliament.
Congress and BJP have locked horns over Soros-Sonia Gandhi links and the US indictment of Adani, leading to disruptions in the ongoing winter session of Parliament. In the political circles, Dimple's remarks were seen as another sign of SP maintaining distance from Congress on Adani issue despite the two parties being part of the INDIA bloc.
"The House is conducting business … it is functioning today and we are hopeful that it will continue to function this way," Dimple told reporters at Parliament building.
Asked about SP's stand on the discussion on the Constitution, Dimple said it's scheduled for Friday and Saturday and her party will participate in the discussion.
Similar views were aired by the Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee who pointed fingers at the BJP and the Congress for not allowing other parties the opportunity to raise their issues. "BJP is the ruling party and the Congress is the principal opposition party. They get more time. We don't get that," he said.
Both TMC and SP had skipped the Congress protest led by Leader of Opposition
Rahul Gandhi at Parliament building on the Adani issue though other INDIA bloc members took part in it.
