Adventure Time for DS/3DS is inspired by Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, and oh my god here are the first screenshots and art. You done did it, WayForward. You done made a tie-in game for a cartoon sound like a must-buy (Batman: The Brave and the Bold was aight, too).
Nintendo Power’s preview of Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage says the game features the same perspective switching as Zelda II, in that its “top-view areas focus on quests and exploration, and the side view combines combat and platforming.”
The game is expected to ship some time this year.

WayForward’s Adventure Time game is releasing for 3DS, too – and not just DS, as was initially reported.
In addition to this fine boxart, we now have the game’s full title (Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage?!) and some details on its story:
“Finn and Jake wake up one morning to find their trash stolen by the Ice King. Jake couldn’t care less about half-eaten bananas, crumpled up burrito wrappers, and old chicken diapers – but when they find out the Ice King is using their stolen goods to construct a Garbage Princess, the heroes embark on a fantastical adventure to teach him a lesson!”
Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward is working with WayForward (Aliens: Infestation, Mighty Switch Force) on the action-adventure game’s storyline and quests.

[Update: D3P has asked sites to pull the image of the debug system/card – please enjoy this cute augmented reality image of a paper cut-out figure in its stead!]
Working 3DS flashcart not used for piracy! Our own JC Fletcher snapped this photo of a 3DS debug unit with a “CTR FLASHCARD 16Gbit” at D3 Publisher’s Game Developers Conference booth. JC says the debug system “resembles the retail 3DS, but has what appears to be a more ‘plasticky’ exterior finish, and red accents around the cartridge slot (where the normal 3DS is silver).
This particular extended cart (looks like a passcard!) likely held a build of D3P/Art Co.’s arcade shooter Dream Trigger 3D, which you can watch a trailer for here.

Winter Sonata episode 1 (subtitled), part 1 of 6.
At a time when the site’s tumblarity is at an all time low due to a number of factors – JC vacationing in Tokyo, posting frequency slowed to a crawl, and the super-niche crap I’ve filled the site with lately – why am I driving even more readers away with a schmaltzy Korean drama series?
Because someone is crazy enough to make a DS game out of it, of course – that crazy someone being Seoul-based developer Skonec, who also worked on Tornado, Pictoimage, and that silly puzzle/horror import you’ll hear me mention from time to time, Joshikousei Nigeru.
Scheduled to release in Japan this December courtesy of D3P, Winter Sonata DS features images and videos from the show. You can play mini-games, complete photo puzzles, and answer trivia questions based on the drama. If you have a DSi, you can also take photos of yourself and superimpose them over Winter Sonata locations.
The story behind Winter Sonata actually sounds really interesting – I could totally get into this if I wasn’t already overburdened with current work/life/entertainment obligations. I can see why someone was like, “OMG I love this show so much! Let’s make a DS game out of it!” After all, the star of Winter Sonata, Bae Yong Joon, just received his own DS game in which he introduces Japanese gamers to the Korean language. It could work!

Four minutes of Simple Wii Series Vol. 6 THE Wai Wai Combat. I had forgotten all about D3’s surprisingly great-looking Wii party/shooting game until Nintendo Everything randomly posted this video.
Why aren’t there more light-hearted multiplayer shooters? Why is it left to D3 to make an online combat game in which hitting someone with a hammer makes cartoon stars come out?
“The protagonist of The Saibanin lies prone above the snow whilst a puddle of blood pools below his head. He’s clearly dead but his immortal spirit lives on to influence a court case against his accused killer. By using spiritual power and eerie possession to influence lawyers and prosecutors alike, the hero ghost tries to sway the judge and jury during a very personal murder trial.”
“Bangai-O Spirits is Brain Training for God. He spake unto the earth: ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the First and the Last, the Street Fighter II and the Street Fighter III, the Sin and Punishment and the Ikaruga, the carbon dioxide and the oxygen, the Bangai-O Spirits for the Nintendo DS.’”
