A Tesla Cybertruck prototype has been seen winter testing at New Zealand’s Southern Hemisphere Proving Grounds with what appears to be a trailer attached.
The images, which were posted on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum by the user Stumby, makes it the first time the electric pickup truck has been seen towing something. However, the photos don’t show the whole trailer so it’s impossible to judge the trailer load size.
The Cybertruck prototype has “512” in blue on the side which InsideEVs speculates might be an internal designation but is also the area code for Austin, Texas, where the Tesla Gigafactory is making the Cybertruck.
Its bumper has an additional LED light bar and the frunk is smaller than expected, says InsideEVs, adding another prototype was seen at the Southern Hemisphere Proving Grounds near Queenstown with “604” on its side, while another sighting of a camouflaged Cybertruck had “535” on it.
Cybertrucks are being produced at the Texas Gigafactory and a special “delivery event” is expected soon where the first customer Cybertruck is likely to be revealed.

I think they may be doing some cold-weather tow testing with Cybertruck in New Zealand.
Looks like a trailer with weight plates on it circled in blue.. 🤔 pic.twitter.com/r66okLvIns
