WarwickFALL RIVER, Mass. (WJAR) — A Fall River teenager has been murdered and authorities said another teenager is responsible.
The Bristol County District Attorney said 17-year-old William Wheeler was stabbed in a fight at a home on Fountain Street. He later died at St. Anne's Hospital.
“It’s just horrible,” Wheeler’s cousin, Aleyzha Almond, told NBC 10 News as she stopped by the scene Thursday.
“He was a really good kid. Everybody was there for him. He was there for everybody,” she said.
Wheeler was a student at Resiliency Preparatory Academy in the city, which is now offering grief counseling to students.
Authorities said a 911 call came in just before midnight Wednesday night of a young man being stabbed.
Wheeler was found on the apartment floor and rushed to the hospital, where he died.
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said they had a suspect in mind and later arrested a 16-year-old boy in West Warwick. The teen, whose name was not released, was charged with murder.
"There’s an indication they were living in the same home together," Quinn said of the teens.
The family has setup a GoFundMe page to raise money for funeral expenses.
The case remains under investigation.
