From: Jason Doris, Storm Team 10 Meteorologist:
Increasing clouds after midnight will help insulate the region and keep temperatures from cooling any further. A mild flow out of the southwest may even bump temperatures up by 5 degrees by the time most wake up on Christmas Eve morning. The overcast conditions are associated with an area of low-pressure racing through the northeast. Southern New England will catch the outer fringes of this system, producing a brief period of festive snowflakes between 9 AM and 12 PM. The snow is forecast to be too light to accumulate. Instead, it'll add the ambiance.
Conditions improve for the afternoon with some sunshine breaking through the clouds. Temperatures manage to reach the mid-30s. No impacts on any holiday celebrations in the weather department either on Christmas Eve. Just be prepared for brisk temperatures. It is more or less the same story for Christmas Day! Bright skies and chilly temperatures!
