Ground-based Data on Kepler Eclipsing Binaries
Abstract
Kepler has provided precise photometry for more than 2500 eclipsing binaries, which may be used to obtain fundamental stellar parameters such as mass and radius. We report on the initial results of a new ground-based program at Apache Point Observatory and Manastash Ridge Observatory to obtain spectra and photometry of Kepler eclipsing binaries. We present multi-color light curves, radial velocites, and additional characterization of the stellar spectra. The new ground-based data will be used to inform modeling efforts for these objects (see companion poster by K. Weisenburger et al.).
