Living Scroll

I have been drawing on a continuous scroll of paper since 2017. I call it my Living Scroll. It is made up of 10 metre lengths of heavy cartridge paper, 30-40 cms wide. I follow a self imposed rule of not cutting up or editing what goes down on the paper. There is no limit on subject matter or media other than practical considerations. Most dry media and watercolour and inks are fine, as they can easily be rolled up! Oils are ruled out but pastels are ok. Some of the passages on the scrolls are prepared with a textured ground in order to better support pastel, charcoal and metal point. Pastel and charcoal drawings are fixed after finishing.

At the time of writing I have completed 85 Rolls ie 850 metres of drawings.

Here are a few examples of recent scrolls.
